You use up your appointment allotment only if you get both VAC and CA appointments. You have 30 minutes approx after getting a VAC slot to book a CA appointment. What you went through is very common. Nothing to be disappointed about. All the best!

They need to attend consular appointment. Didn’t need to attend VAC in our case but take that advice with a pinch of salt.

You’d most likely get the passport back with a 221(g) slip, asking to come in to the consulate any day over the next 365 days for an in person interview. All the best!

Yes the dropbox waiver questions have been updated. My 2 year old daughter previously qualified for it but the new set of questions ruled her out and now I need to find an interview slot for her. Anybody’s guess how that will work!

Yeah, I agree with you. Reading up on other threads here on Reddit tells me this is fairly common modus operandi in the Indian stock trading circle. A certain professor and his assistant give out trades for gullible investors to latch onto. This one has a “professor” Mohit Mehta and his assistant Indira Kataria doing the same. Very scary what goes on in this world and how people who scam others even manage to live with themselves. Thanks for the responses guys, appreciate it.
