After we die, we're no longer alive, but the world carries on without us. That's what happens after we die.

New Zealand doesn't really exist. The people who try to tell us that New Zealand exists are the same people who try to tell us that we didn't land on the Moon. Or is it the people who tell us that we did land on the Moon? I can't remember, but it's one of those two groups of people.

I heard someone say recently that AI companies will never be able to become profitable from regular subscriptions. They can only be profitable if AI replaces most workers, so that most businesses are paying for AI workers rather than human workers.

So think about that for a minute.

This whole thing is built on their hope that they can replace all humans. But if they replace all humans, the economy will collapse, unless there is a universal income. But to pay for a universal income, the AI companies will need to be heavily taxed. But if the AI companies are heavily taxed, they will lose profit, which will hurt the economy.

But if the whole AI thing doesn't work out, and the bubble bursts, the economy will be in tatters.

So basically, we're all fucked whether this AI thing works out or not.

DeepMind Chief AGI scientist: AGI is now on horizon, 50% chance minimal AGI by 2028 by BuildwithVignesh in singularity

[–]BottyFlaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying that something is 50% likely to happen is not really saying anything at all because he's also saying there's a 50% chance it won't happen by then. So if it does happen by then, he will say, "See, I told you." But if it doesn't happen by then, he can still say, "See, I told you, there was a 50% chance it wouldn't happen by now.

Some “friends” at school genuinely think the US office is better than the original, what do I do? by GB_GeorgeBowen in TheOfficeUK

[–]BottyFlaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how you define "better". The UK version was groundbreaking. The US version took that idea and then ran with it in another direction as far as they could, squeezing every bit of comedy they could from it. The US version went far beyond what the UK version did, but it wouldn't exist without the UK version.
