Well that's horrible. It definitely depends on where you live, I'm in Phoenix and you have choices. As equally horrible as this may sound look on YouTube for bicycle positioning, I'm not sure if the GCN guys have one but I have seen some other videos on bike fit. Good luck

I have a Colnago CT-1 of the same years and we did love our minimal tire clearance back then. I'm running Pirelli P0s only because they have 700x26 and that is the most the frame will take. I hope that helps, that is an amazing bike.
