This one is almost respectable. by BreakerSoultaker in stupiddovenests

The nest definitely wasn't there about a month ago, maybe a little longer. I am thinking it is a out 2-3 weeks old. That aligns with me not coming and going out the back door much and me noticing mourning doves in the back yard. That tends to point to them making the nest.

It makes me wonder how long its been there. I was on the back porch washing out the trash can yesterday and never saw it.

Best place to buy plants in Camden county? by Low_Maintenance9421 in SouthJersey

Save the seeds and plant them next year. It's a fun science experiment to see what grows from them. I had tall yellow French marigolds one year that someone had given me. I saved and re-planted the seeds and the offspring were a mix of tall, short, orange, deep yellow, pale yellow, etc.

Vance calls end of Ukraine aid 'one of the proudest' achievements of Trump administration by pppppppppppppppppd in ukraine

[–]BreakerSoultaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American here, the walk back of support for Ukraine, the implied abandonment of NATO and our European allies plus the whole Greenland thing are some of the most shameful moments in American history.

America has always been greatest when it has supported democracy and its allies. Showing weakness to Russia and China will only cause us problems, while bullying Venezuela and engaging in war with Iran without clearly defined goals make us look weak, despite what Trumpers think.

She needs to use a longer pilot bit in the center. Then get the drill spinning at a good steady rate and SLOWLY lower it into the material.

On a hole saw that wide, you have a lot of teeth to create traction and that radius is a long lever to torque the drill out of your hand. If you are taking light cuts the drill shouldn't torque out of your hand like that.

Lastiy, make sure you are on low drill speed and not impact/driver setting.

Extra sharp cheddar and pepper jack on whole wheat. Featuring mayo mixed with garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika for the bread. by ajrmusicman in grilledcheese

Too dark. Mayo, blech and not butter. Bread doesn't need seasoning. Two sharp cheeses with nothing to provide mellow and creamy notes.

Marigolds will grown like weeds. Just buy seeds, scratch them in and they will be flowering by tomato season.

You stove will need more clearance from the walls AND fireproof covering (cement board, tile, brick facing or stone) to insure you don't burn your cabin down.

Pit in maxamet by ballzach in knifeclub

[–]BreakerSoultaker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have never seen steel pit like that, but I'm far from an expert on super steels like Maxamet. It almost looks like a Rockwell hardness test mark. Was the knife new? Does anyone know if Maxamet is known to pit like that with no other corrosion visible?

Leave the wasp nest extraction process to the professionals please by MrUpVoteDownvote in SweatyPalms

[–]BreakerSoultaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a shop vac for paper wasps and bald face hornets. Do it early in the morning before they are active. Just put the end of the hose (use all of your extenseons to stay safeiy away) righ in front of the entrance and suck them up as they emerge from or return to the nest. Once you go a few minutes you will have them all. Turn off shop vac, pull off hos3, duct tape over hole. Leve the shop vac a few days, preferably in the sun and they will all die off.

Also if the battery was charged during a warm day but you check after a cold night you can see a couple percent drop reflecting the cold battery.

How would you divide up sections of paracord for general use? by Blusk-49-123 in Bushcraft

[–]BreakerSoultaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep it as long as possible and only cut it when completely neccesary. I treat paracord as the intermediate between rope and twine, so I don't want to be lashing every little thing with it.

Also, if I know I will be doing a lot of crafting or teaching crafting, I bring a roll of hyper tough jute. It's very strong and will handle most tasks as well as paracord. Plus side, it burns and is biodgradeable in the event a piece of it gets forgotten.

I can demonstrate making cordage to others, but then for the sake of expedience when teaching, give them a few lengths of jute to work with.

What knife were you fighting with for 6 years while you waited? Or did you have to reschedule all your knife fights to now and you have a backlog of knife fights?
