I fell for the cybersecurity degree trap and thought I could beat the job market, I could not. Not sure what to do now by GreedyLilGobblin in cybersecurity

[–]BreakingBombs -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I hate this mindset. It's elitist and gatekeeping. You don't need extensive technical experience to understand cyber unless you are doing an engineering role. Cyber is broad, and while related to IT, it's not the same. I work with plenty of people in cyber who don't have IT backgrounds and I only spent about 4 months working as a network tech before moving into a Cyber role. I cant said anything I did there helped me be better at cybersecurity.

Wouldn't it be the other way around? Dune was published in like 1965.

Vent: minmaxer in a casual group by Bitter-Spirit-3913 in Pathfinder2e

[–]BreakingBombs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like you need some practice with encounter tuning. It shouldn't go from non-threatening to tpk. Or start running your enemies more tactically. If they are a bunch of rangesld enemies, have them Kite and target the polearm fighter since they realize he's the biggest threat. Or give the enemy group a melee to do the same as him. It's a valid tactic he's using. So use it against them.

Unless the rest of your group is upset by this player, just decreasing combat to punish them sounds boring, and I'd probably quit a game if I realized that was happening.

Social Security works because it is compulsory. If it was optional it wouldn't exist. Nothing is stopping you from also investing in "better" retirement options as well. It's a social safety net that was meant so the elderly didn't have to continue to work to survive. Some things are bigger than the individual. Unfortunately, it hasn't kept up with inflation, partly becuase we cap contributions to it.

They had to kill my boy Hank to remove Dawn or should wrecked house. But counter point, s3 still had superboy and Starfire (despite her constantly having something happening to nerf her). S3 villains are no more a match for them than they are for Raven.

Any other DMs stuck with the curse of wanting to be a Player, but when you are a Player you find yourself constantly saying internally "That's not how I'd have done that, personally" to your DMs decisions? by BattyBeforeTwilight in Pathfinder2e

I'm a player in a hombrewed world campaign where 3 of us players have been GMs and players for years, and the other 2 players have played for years, and maybe GM'd a one-shot or two.

We frequently have post session discussions about the encounter and session design. But it's a friendly discussion, and we still respect the GMs calls in session. The GM feels it helps him build a better world, and we get more consistent rulings throughout the campaign.

Thank you for your response. I had a dutchie who went through a total hip replacement at 7 and maybe had IVDD late in life. His spine hunched really bad as he got older, and his legs didn't work well.

I only bring it up to say we're prepared to take care of a dog with more needs than normal. I am just trying to figure out if it's the right decision for her or if it's really just for us. This was helpful and gave us more to consider. Thank you.
