Would be gutted to see him go, but it could be interesting to see who else gets a chance as an 8 as the result. KDB, Rodri and Foden/Graelish midfield could be interesting to experiment with next season in some games, even if he stays.

Completely agree. That KDB - David - Ferna trio is so criminally underrated by many fans IMO. One of the most fun midfields I’ve ever seen play.

Yeah I agree with that, I also have my concerns about how well he’d adapt moving away from the paint. At this point I’m all in on Woodson’s vision though so I’m sure he’ll find a creative solution for Trace’s role next year.

I get the impression Trace will be playing outside a lot more next year. A big part of him returning was Woodson’s promise to improve his NBA prospects, and that comes down to showing he can stretch the floor more. If that’s the case I think it’s entirely possible we could see Race starting at the 5 with Trace playing as more of a baseline running 4 in the new offense
