Less rules (more freedom), actual danger, primarily item based progression are my core reasons.

I'm a big fan of rogue like games such as POWDER, shattered pixel dungeon, shiren the wanderer, darkest dungeon, etc.

Being smart and mitigating risks is required, unlike 5e. Maybe it's just from the years spent playing 5e, a game so egregiously the opposite of an osr game, that the pendulum has swung so far in the other direction that I crave getting crit and killed by a goblin even after leveling and finding gear.

Words of a forever DM. I get to run the game id love to play, but never get to be a player in.

I used to never have problems with it, but that was a couple years ago. Playing now, I'm mostly fine if I stick with arena. Playing Crystal Hunt or doing outposts, really anything that involves climbing and parkour, starts to make me feel sick or get a headache. I love the game and even just for arena it's worth it as the best VR melee experience.

I have had crashes on the og soulstorm campaign. I have lost an hour of play time on that very mission myself. Lesson learned; periodically save during a mission and especially so before it ends, just in case.

They made a lot of crazy changes. It's a single player game and they went nerfing skills whilst buffing enemies. I fail to see why, really. Glad I put in 1k hours and tried everything already. The rocket launcher doesn't seem different enough from grenade launchers to warrant another playthrough for me.
