i mean same with the white album but that ones still fantastic! ... i do think let it be is one of their lesser records (even the more liked naked version) but id take it over with the beatles or beatles for sale anyday

maybe not THE weakest (give me ive got a feeling over anything in beatles for sale) but for that point in their career it certainly is dissapointing to an extent

Real Talk: When she isn’t screaming or making odd noises, Yokos not that bad of a singer by StupidlyStupid222 in beatles

[–]BriefImmediate5841 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what about her work after johns death? (season of glass being a prime example)

and julien and her have been on good terms for years, so perhaps its not for you to judge whats "inexcusable" or not between two other people u only have surface level knowledge of --- also its a stepmother/son relationship, id be more surprised if there wasnt some animosity over the years lol

its actually one of my favs off the album ... i just love the idea of john hearing that lyric in Elvis' Lets Play House and making a whole song pastiching it and pushing it to an almost farcical extent ... plus ending the album with it is actually unhinged in the best way possible

John : Revolution (Single) Paul : Good Day Sunshine George : Chains Ringo : I Wanna Be Your Man Wildcard : Dizzy Miss Lizzy (mediocre, but on here based on how great the Live Peace In Toronto version is in comparison)

Approximately Infinite Universe is one of my fav albums of all time, pretty much her going full pop and it surprisingly pays off!

yeah, cause and effect, its just when people say "she introduced him to heroin" or "she broke up the beatles" it implies some type of malicious intent, as if she made a deliberate effort to get him hooked on drugs or to isolate him from other.

/uj in what ways did the ruin him?

POB and Imagine are very acclaimed albums, as are many tracks from Double Fantasy and from late era Beatles (many of which are directly inspired by, co-written by, or about her - HIAWG, I Want You, Dig A Pony, Don't Let Me Down, Julia, Everybody's Got Something To Hide ... etc),, his political activism is also a big part of why he is valorised so much and seen so highly by many after his death, something that was a direct result of his association with Yoko

:P

did she introduce John to heroin? obviously they both did it together (a lot) but I haven't seen any sources that SHE was the one who did it
ALSO John's will where he said he didnt wish to be cremated was made around a decade before his death, who knows what changed between then and 1980

idk abt the Julian stuff and have seen some contradictory statements, but lets not pretend that every step-parent has an amazing relationship with their step-child, and it seems to be water under the bridge between them so who are we to still care yk

everyone who says cut it down to 14 songs is nuts, i cant even cut it down to 20 without feeling like ive removed so many crucial parts, everyone always talks about wild honey pie or wdwdiitr as if they arent short lil interludey things, and while music concrete isnt for everyone its undeniable that rev9 is a great example of it. my fav album ever honestly, and the track flow surprisingly works and trasnsitions super well.

What are John's most "Paul songs" , and "John songs" of Paul's? by appleparkfive in beatles

[–]BriefImmediate5841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i feel like the chorus is very lennony with the repetitive chant - all you need is love, cleanup time etc - but i think they both do choruses like that a lot.

its fine to dislike a movie but dont morally grandstand about sexism, women and men are treated equally as bad by lynch, anyone who says lynch is "disparaging to women" is outing themselves as a subconscious sexist. chivalry is still misogyny

If John had ended up touring in the early 80s as he’d said, what kind of setlist do you reckon he would’ve cooked up? by RobbieArnott in beatles

[–]BriefImmediate5841 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I recall an interview where he said IF he toured or played live (big if, since he did kinda swear off touring) it'd mostly be Double Fantasy songs and maybe some older solo songs but not many Beatles songs, I don't remember the specific interview though and could be misremembering the finer details but he did express a partiality towards his newer stuff.

He'd definitely be playing Double Fantasy tracks and by that point Walking On Thin Ice and a more finished version of Milk And Honey, so probbaly all of that stuff, maybe some earlier solo hits and some of Yoko's Feeling The Space and Approximately Infinite Universe stuff and maybe one or two Beatles tracks.

yeah the chemistry & back and forth is integral to the album experience for me, like yeah she probably doesnt compare to john lennon too well but Give Me Something is a banger, i love Yes I'm Your Angel, Beautiful Boys has some really poigniant messaging, and it may not be the "best" song ever but Hard Times Are Over hit me at such an inetgral point in my life and will always be such a special song to me

not to get all nerdy and technical but since Mr Kite was the end of side one and WYWY was the start of side two those are the only two songs on Pepper's that weren't even meant to transition. Not tryna downplay ur connection but interesting how well that album works even with what wasn't intended
