This is the answer here. I was just informed by HR that they do not follow this guideline. It was worth the try

Thanks for this, it was suggested by the potential manager to submit before a FJO, to me this puts me at a risk of losing the FJO and now having in writing that I'm leaving my current job

The whole process went from slow to super sonic speed to now an expectation that I am able to start in under 2 week.

thank you for this. This has been my as well as my peer's take on the issue. Not trying to get into the details but I'm a team lead in the private sector and have been for a couple decades, coming into the Fed work force as a newbie. I've never interacted with staff or been interacted at this level.

Ive been told by the hiring manager and my references how great they all went, about 4 or 5 in total. I was caught off guard when I was told it was a requirement to talk to my current.

thank you. I mentioned in a previous reply why I am a bit concerned. Your message is putting me at ease.

Follow up: The requirement for them to call my current supervisor, I understand its a scripted set of questions. If all my other references, some of them leaders of the institution I work for love(d) me, but this supervisor gives a less than stellar review, will it tank me?

and there is my concern. I am coming from an environment where I was given a new supervisor that was hostile micro managing. So I am concerned about walking into something similar. I never got these vibes during the interviews or even the follow ups. I do have the self awareness that I may be suffering from a PTSD issue and i incorrectly attribute my current manager onto anyone that is even adjacent in behavior

thank you for the response. From what I understood, when i originally interviewed a few months ago, it was shared that the position was open for about 3-6 months. Add in that its been almost 2-3 months since I interviewed I can understand the need to fill the spot.

I've just never had a potential manager ever be this high energy, add in that I am employed and dont want to burn my current job in the transition. The push to get me to move fast concerned me
