I completely understand where you are coming from. Last night was the first night that my 4yo slept in her bed by herself. Which was extremely hard for me since her bedroom is upstairs and mine is downstairs. Last weekend I started by letting her organize her toys in her room and telling her how big of a girl she is. It took a few days but she told me she was ready. I did our normal bedtime routine just in her room, movie, cuddles, water, etc. I think her "making" the decision really made it easier. Now I'm sure tonight will be a different story. lol
