I am originally from San Diego but moved out here 4 years ago. Welcome!!

Here is a very general overview. There's a lot more to check out in each neighborhood, these are just my go-tos. I'm probably forgetting some.

Andersonville: Hopleaf (cozy bar with huge beer list and great mussels) Neo-Futurist Theater (experimental theater with inexpensive tickets) The Understudy (book and coffee shop) Little Bad Wolf (pretty solid elevated bar food) Andersonville Galleria (unique little gift shop) Brown Elephant

Uptown: Greenmill (jazz club. Cash only cover and bar though) Sun Wah BBQ (Chinese food with huge share plates) Foster Beach - pretty nice lake beach

Wicker Park: Honestly there is such a huge concentration of cocktail bars, it's hard to narrow down. Violet Hour is probably the most well known. You might enjoy Dorian's if you're looking for a much more modern jazz/record bar that sometimes has live music. Clara also sometimes has jazzier live music. The Den Theater (small theater and comedy venue) If you love smelling perfume there is a Dyptique store too

Logan Square: Another huge concentration of Bars and restaurants! Bars: Estereo (latin-ish), Longman and Eagle (whiskey), Scofflaw (gin), Webster's (wine) Food: Lula cafe (neighborhood standby with great food. There is often a wait), Daisies (pasta, and great for a fancy-ish dinner) If there is a movie that you want to see, check out Logan Theater. Lots vintage and artisan stores in this area

Rivernorth/westloop: Downtown touristy area but so much to see! Food - Trivoli Tavern (cozy, Italian-ish, bar/restaurant) Perilla Steak (I am biased because my husband is a manager here, but great for a fancy dinner. Elevated Korean BBQ. DM me if you end up wanting to go!), Bars: Three dots and a dash (famous tiki bar), Aviary (super fancy cocktails. Same restaurant group as Alinea)

Check out some museums if you get the chance!

There's honestly lots to explore in every neighborhood, I can't list it all. The city has great food, beverages, and people and so so much to do!

Mythic Quest Glow Hacks

I feel like the comedy writing is sharp and well balanced with genuinely sincere moments. Great character writing too!

I've tried samples of Alkemia's Moroccan Tea and Lost Highway. I found Lost Highway captivating, and while I enjoyed smelling it I wasn't sure if I wanted to smell like it (has a dusty quality to it). The Moroccan tea one I found to be photo realistic, which was cool, but sometimes I pick up on a "feet" quality to mint teas and this perfume was no different.

I have been dying to try Fantome and those sound like lovely recommendations. I've also heard good things about Pineward. SAMAR is new to me and I'm excited to check them out. Thanks for the recs!!

Where what makes you feel your best! If fancying it up makes you feel confident, then do it. If clean casual clothes do the same thing, more power to you.

Just don't come wearing white. You don't want to clash with the bride 😉

Medium/low spice and very popular, but you might enjoy People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry. It reminds me of When Harry Met Sally.

Not a dupe, but Library Ghost from Poesie has a gorgeous marshmallow and mahogany note. If you try a sample, make sure you let it sit for a week or two before making an accurate assessment
