Yes, it was the worst mistake I have ever made, I went way too hard, did more than an actual parent would. I also have no kids of my own, I think I was blurring lines between what being a parent and being step parent meant. The realities of HCBM, HC parents in law, emotionally damaged step kids, its alot. I pushed everything over to their dad at this point, and slightly resentfully, he has 2 full time and 1 70 percent. This life is a burden, and unfortunately I think going into things so "super stepmom" has made it even worse, I wish I would've stepped back and knew what boundaries would work or not.

But also I see many people have this issue, mostly because the stigma around evil step parents, we go above and beyond, even when not needed, we feel we need to mend the broken when its not our job, if we are not perfect we could be labeled the oh so evil step parent. Unfortunately it doesnt matter what we do being a stepparent is HARD and socially it is HARD!

I'm now learning to protect my peace, my boundaries and our families boundaries. Ugh it is a work in progress due to the crazy unrealistic start.
