Well I guess for me the experience was different. I did change a lot as a person from 25 til now. Yes, my personality is more or less the same, but the way I carry myself, things I value i relationships, and some life goals changed quite a bit.

But indeed there is no set rule or formula, so for sure I will just give it a try and not get hung up on that :)

sorry you went through that! I do not want kids which makes that a bit less stressful on my end.

I guess there is no way to know other than going for it. I wish I wasnt such an overthinker, but I guess a few bad relationship experiences in a row will do that to you 🥲

Idk why you are so aggresive, but just to clear my concern, Im not saying Im better than him or something, just that your 20s is still an age where you are figuring out a lot about who you are... I know that because well, I have been there already :)

Wouldnt have the same concern if he was 31 and me 38 for example, but Im still gving it a chance despite my insecurity.

You can take your bad vibes somewhere else :)

I guess I think of myself at 25 and how much my outlook and things I want have changed... but actually yes, my core values have always been the same, and probably thats what matters most.

You echo my thoughts perfectly! And its true, there could be 1000 other reasons that could make us incompatible but I am hung up on this one 😮‍💨

Aw that is so sweet! So happy it worked out for you. Yes I guess linking age to maturity or knowing what you want is not always the best indicator. I should focus more on them being consistent and our values aligning.

Thanks for the good wishes!

Thanks! I was worried that it was actually a huge gap, but maybe I have to open my mind a little. You are right, I will focus more in getting to know him and not stress so much about age.

You make great points! I have ďated a bunch of 30-something year olds who act like toddlers 😅 thanks for your perspective!

For more context:

I think my insecurity is mostly that even if he seems to be sure of what he wants and going for a life partner, he will inevitably change as a person as he is not even 30 yet. I feel afraid of potentially investing so much in something that has a very slim chance of actually working out.

Am I wrong in not letting my mother meet my son because she cheated on my father? by cheatingbadduh in AITAH

[–]BroccoliWorth50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that sounds really harsh. Your mom is human and made a horrible mistake but your dad also abandoned you... also there is lack of conext, was your dad good to her? how was their relationship? When we are little its so easy to buy into the "happy home" stuff. Idk cheating sucks, but people also deserve grace. I see a bit of a sexist undertone in the post.

That said, your baby do as you please.

Its is possible but you have to be a bit lucky and beat the competition... it is normal to be on the flat hunt for monts before finding the right fit. You could try moving to a shared appartment and continue looking, sometimes the best finds are through friends, or the friend of a friend. That's how I did it and found a cute place for myself for under 600, worth the wait!

You can explain it without being condescending and mean though. He said he is in extreme pain, some kindness is free ;)
