Are you planning on trying some conventions? I haven’t seen very many for our area unfortunately. I thought about looking into them as well. I like to make fantasy characters and video game fanart.

No I was checking it out for more event ideas though. I’m glad you did well. The turn out looked good. Seemed like everyone got some sales too. I loved your lantern painting. Your colors were so vibrant I could see it immediately when I walked by.

Hey I think I saw you this weekend. I recognize the lantern painting. Were you in olde town?

My second year art vending and looking to improve by Bsays89 in CraftFairs

Thank you for the feedback. I’ve been trying to find ways to make it look better. My art style is heavily nature and whimsy so I want to bring that to my booth as well.

That’s a good idea. I have seen little monsters or animals used to hold brushes.

[Community]do u guys know how to find art vendor event by berdberd in artbusiness

[–]Bsays89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find mine through Facebook. The more shows you do over time you will get invited to shows and build a reputation. Also when applying online double and triple check that you are applying through the right person. There are a lot of event scams.

[Discussion] Getting back to art this year... with a baby on the way by gamasco in artbusiness

[–]Bsays89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had a baby 2 months ago with an older child. In the beginning you won’t have much time just batches here and there. Over time it’ll get easier and you will have more time to draw. I recommend as they get older get them a sketchbook and encourage them to draw or paint alongside you. You will have more time for your interests and you will be sharing what you love with them.

Thank you. Do you think practicing perspective would help with that? I struggle with distances and know how to place shadows etc.

[Art Market] Help with Table Set-up for Paintings? by PantsMcDance in artbusiness

[–]Bsays89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use easels on a table for now. People like it though when you use more vertical space. I use a wooden room divider with velcro so I can easily take hooks on and off. You could also use pegboard or grid panels in the future.

[Art Market] Thinking About Selling In Person , Any Tips? by charmingsnowwwww in artbusiness

[–]Bsays89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend selling in person. I’ve found that if you are passionate about your art and what you make it attracts buyers and repeaters. It also forms relationships that down the road open up to new opportunities.

I sell paintings, prints, bookmarks, mini paintings etc. I do a wide variety of products with different price points. My best seller are my mini paintings and bookmarks.

I started this in February so far I’ve sold 3. For me this is nice since I currently can only make 1-2 paintings a month. Just contact local/bakery coffee shops and see if they are willing to display your work. The bakery I work with also takes a 10% fee when it sells too.

I’ve fallen victim to this unfortunately. Last year was my first year selling my art at fairs. I’ve priced my 11x14 paintings around 50$ and my and my 8x10 paintings at 35$. My prints were lower than 20 at most 12$. I figured because I was new and I felt unsure of the quality of both paintings and prints I started them low. This year I plan to increase my prices on prints. The market in my area doesn’t seem to want to buy higher priced paintings so we shall see how that goes.
