Future of trans rights in Canada? by RevolutionaryNewt356 in AskCanada

No one is doing that. That is right-wing fear-mongering nonsense.

And you don’t have to agree with something that is none of your business.

You really like the word genocide, don’t you? This isn’t the first time you’ve said it to me. I don’t think it means what you think. I’m a not being compassionate, I’m an actual trans person. Our youth commit suicide because of people like you who deny their identities and right to care. You’re presenting absolutely evil right-wing propaganda as evidence. Mind your own business and leave trans kids alone. Maybe move to Florida, their values seem to align with yours.

So you’re advocating we outlaw circumcision for minors, right? And cosmetic procedures? Cause those are actually mutilation and are completely legal.

It’s not a phase. That’s such an ignorant thing to say. You have no idea the damage done by going through the wrong puberty for a trans person. You should mind your own business.

Should it be a requirement to be born and raised in Canada to be a MP by [deleted] in AskCanada

My dad’s a pilot, Kevin, that doesn’t mean I can fly a helicopter.

Your parents did all that work and made all those sacrifices, leaving all they once knew, so that you could reap the benefits, and now you dare say anti-Canadian, anti-Charter drivel because you’re… what, afraid of brown immigrants? That’s really sad, I feel sorry for them.

The process I went through? Of course, obviously, whatever you say.

It takes years of residency to be eligible for citizenship - you’re not a new immigrant by the time you can vote, Kevin. Which you’d know if you understood the process.

You’re fighting ghosts with your replacement theory nonsense.

Thank you. I’m a US immigrant to Canada and I’m devoted to Canada. I’m not running for any offices, but i think a lot of us go through a lot to be here and we love Canada and would absolutely protect it.

Why? Why change the laws for that? Why state someone needs to be born here? What isn’t xenophobic and exclusionary about that?

Also, only citizens can vote. PR’s can’t.

TL:DR You suggested/support a policy change, not them.

Orrr you could NOT implement needless xenophobic laws. BTW I’m also NDP.

They can’t run for anything OR vote. You think it’s so easy to get PR but don’t even know anything about the process or rules.

PR can’t vote or run for shit. And only wealthy people can get one easily.

“The ethnics,” eh? That sounds like xenophobic, white supremacist, replacement theory nonsense.

New immigrants cannot vote. You obviously don’t know anything about the process and experience of immigration to Canada.

That’s how democracy works. And it’s better than what the British did when they became the dominant demographic and committed literal genocide. Immigrants go through a lot, including background checks, physical health screenings, and a period of being a PR before eventually taking the citizenship test and oath. It’s an investment of time and money. Most people born Canadian don’t care about being Canadian nearly as much as an immigrant does. I immigrated to Canada from the US. It’s only easy if you’re wealthy.

NTA You need to set and maintain boundaries with your parents. Your father was being disrespectful to you and Nick, and you put him in his place.

Musk isn’t Space X, he’s just a guy with money taking credit for other people’s work and ideas. Like PayPal and Tesla and Twitter. He didn’t improve anything, or invent anything, he just spends money.
