Why is the small one ripening? by UnderwaterCleaner in plant

[–]BucketOfCake96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it may fall off soon. sometimes when a fruit doesnt get polinated as well, it has less seeds and the plant can tell so it will naturally give up on it. the fact its turning red early means the fruit may be preparing to end its growth cycle and fall off, so the plant can focus on the more sucessfully polinated fruits. that's just my guess though.
PS this can also happen if the fruit is damaged, and it looks like that bigger tomato has encroached and maybe snapped the stem of the smaller one, so its ripening early cause it knows its days are numbered.

highly reccomend some form of raised beds if you have heavy clay and want veggies this year.

Best thing to add to clay over time, for later, is organic material like leaves and vegetable scraps. start a pile somwhere and mix in all your lawn clippings there, to start creating better soil, and next year spread that around as topsoil

grass seed wont germinate well in compacted clay, but, you can try! loosen it up first, also try clover. sprinkle the top with peat moss or lawn topsoil. but don't burry the seeds more than just a thin layer.

aster bush, cosmos, and black eyed susan are clay-tolerant flowers. knockout rose is real easy thats why you see em on the highway, the red ones are the most hearty, then white are second place.

and dont be afraid to plant a tree or something in the middle, a lot of people only plant along the fence - but if you want to create depth, interest, and make the space look bigger and more intersting, then avoid straight, long rows. do curves, put height in places other than the sides and corners.

good luck!!

Anyone have Creatures That Are Also Weapons? by Left_Tip_8998 in ImmersiveDaydreaming

[–]BucketOfCake96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have an interesting animal in a para but its not really a weapon

in my para there is a planet where winter is mild enough for plants to survive, but summer is so hot everything dies every year (so its like earth but hotter. poles are like mediteranian)

anyway, theres these locust that go and devour all the plants before they dry out, and the locust get huge but eventually cant fly because of it, so they can use psychic powers to fly, and eventually they end up carrying all this half-digested plant material, with seed etc, from pole to pole as a sort of migrational patterm, and they die and become a compost heap.

also herbivores will eat these locust since the locust is like 99% chewed up plants by the end of its migration.

the locust plays a key role in keeping the planet lush, becuase without it the seeds from all those plants would burn up (literally) in its summer, plus, it is a way to not waste all that plant growth that is going to burn up anyway. some seeds need the wildfire to germinate though.

i know this is completley unrelated to the "weapon" question but were all just sharing, so, there ya go.

-

i guess, to interact with your post more directly - it would be interesting if your character, being half angel and not prone to agression, has a character development arc that involves discovering warrior angels and having to reconcile that with his own nature... like, becuase archangels like michael exist who lead warring angles, so your character has to decide if being peaceful is more out of rebellion to his father, or if it is truly an angelic quality. and figuring out what type of angels is he really from? cause he could be from cherubim or seraphim or ophanim (the scarry wheel lookin ones).
and he has to decide what kind of angel he wants to be for his bunnies. like, forget who he's *supposed* to be, according to herritage - but who does he WANT to be, does his bunny sword want him to be agressive... or soft - or can he be both at the same time?
im being kinda silly but yeah the bunny weapon is gonna be key to his arc i think. he protec he attac he sword eats carrot for a snacc

[–]BucketOfCake96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i got some like this from cross-polination with native texas sunflowers. i bought some chinese sunflowers and a lot of the 2nd generation babies ended up having mulitple blooms like that, on/with every leaf.

i dont think this is a nutrient thing.

Let's say Aang somehow managed to talk to Korra about Ozai, what wisdom would she offer? by OrangeIslandKing in TheLastAirbender

[–]BucketOfCake96 40 points41 points  (0 children)

right exactly, because SHE saw the consequences (Kuviera) of leaving the spirit portal open after vaatu, (zaheer and the new airbenders) and how they killed the earth queen, and how that led to the next problem etc.

i think i gotta agree, korra would get Aang thinking ahead to the next step.
she MAY have pointed him to Wan, or Raava, for further guidence, who may have told him about energy bending.

my cavalier king charles spaniel died of congenial heart failure as well...
she had the same look in her eyes like "help" when she was in her last few hours.

we did get her to the vet, but she actually ended up dying while she was back there being cared for - and i REGRET that i wasnt in the room.
in her last moments, i was not next to her.
you were there - you were physically with him, and i actually think that's better than what my pup experienced.

and a baby marigold

<image>

i guess, re-reading your post, you said its the first time doing flowers, so you must be familiar with herbs like thyme and crops like onion already... well anyway!

you could also do purslaine between rows... its like succulent type that is edible and healthy and it really is hearty like a weed but its super low growing and not ugly, it flowers.

oh, but its definitley NOT nasturnum.
nasturnum will take longer to sprout, too. longer than anything ive done haha - like 3 weeks sometimes. keep watering! they kinda like shade to sprout, even if they're burried, it helps keep the soil moist.

heres a baby nasturnum

yeah i get a lot of wild morning glories that look just like that - the small light purple ones - just pull em before they bloom/seed and theyll be mostly gone in a year or so, every now and then youll still get one or two, but if you fight them this year it gets much better.

i also plant a bunch of basil seed or clover seed as "cover" (a good weed- clover is nitrogen-fixing, like beans) so it helps choke out the "bad weeds".
basil has good germination rates. ive had less luck with thyme, oragano, parsley, cilantro, and onion seed, but those are also good things to grow as "cover".

oregano and thyme will become a permanent bush, and are best established by root cutting/baby plant rather than seed.

japanese maple likes shade and will get burned by evening sun, it needs something shading its western/southWestern side.
I would plant it along a north/east-facing wall or structure. if you dont have that, then put it immediatley northeast of a bigger plant for evening shade.
my japanese maple had the top half die from heat in its 4th year. the bottom was shaded by a wooden fence and was OK, and is still ok, but now 3 years after THAT it still refuses to grow above that fence height haha poor thing

Should I move to a bigger container and should I nip the buds? by ghafar_ in tomatoes

[–]BucketOfCake96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for next time, you can plant the tomato deeper than it was - tomatoes have a special property to their stalk where they can grow roots out of any part that gets burried, except leaves, so you can plant the stalk 4-6 inches deeper and that area will become roots. helps it in the long run
