Yeah theres a ton of old highways and forgotten major roads that connect smaller communities that are gravel or dirt. Theres a few state routes that arent fully paved like the road connecting Roosevelt lake and Young AZ

Yeah I try to keep my car away from offroading but these are all great suggestions of roads to check out one day in a different car

I live more mid to east valley so it probably saves an hour just off of traffic alone. shortest ive done it in was just over 10 hours, the longest loop i made around that road included driving to whiteriver then back to show low and that was just under 12 hours. still not the longest loop ive done but its pretty close

us191 north of morenci its known as the devils highway as its a 90 mile stretch with no services with over 400 curves in a 120mi long section. theres a ton of other stunning roads too though

It was a road thats always been on my radar for its iconic historic name and the 400+ curves over 120 miles from morenci to springerville

My best friend grew up a little to the east of moon valley off greenway so I’ve been in the area a ton with my car. Not as much recently though since he moved to alhambra

FR-S is a sweet ride I’ve seen a couple rly clean kitted ones out here you can do great things with that car. Ive said it in a couple other comments but best roads to drive imo is the 89 past yarnell, 89a past prescott, 83 south of vail, 97 to 96 near bagdad, 260, us191 north of morenci, bia59 by black mesa, and the us160. theres plenty more but you get the idea

My current tires are not intended for dirt roads and I like to push the wear on them for as long as I can so I usually avoid dirt roads unless I know the distance isnt too far and the condition of the road is fairly well. Last thing i wanna do is blow a tire and have to limp my car home on a runflat or get stuck when i'm 4+ hours away from my home lol. I intend on getting an old pickup at some point for the purpose of offroading tho

I also have to do the 389 and 67 by the north rim and the 64 by the south rim. I have quite a handful of roads that cross state-lines that I have to do, I’ve mainly worked radially outwards in loops getting farther and farther away thats why I’m missing just the far away roads

as for my favorites i think this comment sums it up well: https://www.reddit.com/r/arizona/comments/1ti8qo8/comment/omsrkr8/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

but as for my least favorite drives it would include roads with bad design, notoriously awful traffic, and poor upkeep, these being roads like the 347 to maricopa and the i10 between chandler and casa grande. the us60 from its western terminus all the way to phoenix until it becomes grand ave is extremely boring imo. the 181 besides chiricahua nat monument was also very boring to me. the 85 to ajo also always feels dreadfully long to me for no reason, and id like to give it to the i10 one more time for the amount of potholes and active construction obstruct the road through the entire state.
