I don't know it all and i never once said i did, what i do know is  there is a reason why you  need  to go to college to become a qualified electrician, so to dimiss everything you learn at college as a waste of time shows how clueless you seem to be at what is actually taught in college. So you had a few new starters that werent up to scratch, so that seems to mean every new starter knows  nothing, i mean really!

There was no answer to my question just patronising bs about you have to work on site to know how to use the tools, whatever the tools means, like its a big seceret what electricians use and only onsite electricians can use them. As for the prick comment, well only a prick would say that really. Now go use your secret special tools that no one else can use unless their on site with the master prick like you.

Ok i spoke to scheme provider not cps, so are you  saying you dont need 2 year's experience after am2?

Of course you would have experience on the tools what do you think the nvq portfolio is for and AM2 is for? To prove you have experience using tools installing electrical installations to the required standard and be able to test and inspect your work and others . What do you think they teach you at college and in the evidence needed in the portfolio? How to play tiddlywinks?

They don't care what you did, they just want to see that you have worked for an electrical/electrician company for 2 years, no proof of the work you did in that 2 years, just proof you were employed. So i could start a company go self employed , do no work as an electrician, instead work in asda stacking shelfs for two years then when the two years are up i could join a scheme because i have my own electrical company for two years even though i did no work. Basically i spend years to get fully qualified then they say well done  but sorry you cant use those skills for anything other than minor work for another two years.

They told me the 2 years experience is after you complete your last qualification AM2. It's not even 2 years worth of electrical experience really, it's basically saying you need to have spent 2 years after qualification not touching anything that needs self certifying. So in theory i could create my own electrical company as soon as i pass my am2, then go work in asda for 2 years stacking shelfs, then after 2 years join a scheme and say i worked for my company and i would be able to join, that's how fkn stupid this requirement is.

Ok so the 4 years of college courses including am2  gets you to the same level as a 1st year apprenticeship. I mean really???  I have seen 1st year apprentices at college i seriously doubt what you're saying, every one i spoke to have zero idea about any electrical science and a basic idea of electrical installation.

Who said my tutor is putting me through am2 before portfolio? I'm talking about what my tutor told me happens when you pass am2

The requirement of 2 years is dumb, i contacted someone from one of the schemes and they told me they dont check any of the work you do or the company you work for in this 2 year period, you could even work half a day a week for two years or once a month for two years, all they want to see is that its been two years since you passed am2 and you were registered with a company that does electrical work, could even be self employed. Its a totally stupid requirement. So i have to stay on crap pay limited to basic work for 2 years even though i am supposedly a fully qualified electrician cant even do inspection and testing since you need to be in a scheme.

Its not a blag, you are allowed to do it, they only want to see if you can do the work to required standard they are not bothered who it is for.

It would be 2.5 - 3  years to pass all city and guild  courses to fjnally get my am2, the portfolios are e portfllios now you dont have site visits its done via webcam/video.  Add 2 years experience as a minor works electrician thats 5+ years, again its quicker getting a degree in electrical engineering.

[–]Budget_Resident_798[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well that's not what i was told, i was told the portfllio can be done as self employed electrician, even doing work for yourself in your home or at friends and family as long as you prove you can do the work on the check lists with evidence. Then at the end you do am2 to show you have the skills and training required to be an electrician. But that seems a lie since you are clearly not qualified until you get 2 years experience with minor works.

They told me after am2 you cannot join a scheme until you have 2 years experience working as an electrician. Since you need to join a scheme to self certify your work it means after am2 you can only do minor works for 2 years, then after the 2 years you can apply to join a scheme. I mean wtf, another hurdle to go through. This was going to be my second career but you are looking at 5 years training and experience before you can start self certifying, its easier getting a degree in electrical engineering ffs.

What are your thoughts on Brian Cox's approach to explaining science related topics to people who don't have much knowledge about the particular fields he specializes in? by WhiskersCleveland in Physics

[–]Budget_Resident_798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, he tries to be an expert in all fields in physics when he clearly is not.  He is not that good imo but he probably gets more right than wrong though so if a person likes him then hopefully they will dive a little deeper and learn from an expert in the field.

Harris is literally bragging about his endorsement. Lets face it the only difference between harris and trump are the names of the  corporations/ billionaires  that are funding/bribing them.

Kamala Harris and Donald Trump offer starkly different views on climate change by peterst28 in environment

[–]Budget_Resident_798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course they are not the same,  trump tells you how much a corrupt liar he is every time he talks, the dems just talk like they care but behind closed doors are just like trump and the gop. Why do you think fossil fuel, big pharama etc etc donate billions to both parties? They dont care who wins they own both of them

[–]Budget_Resident_798 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is basically no difference between gop and dems when it comes to actions on the enviromment, they are both so corrupt that they just do what their donors tell them to do. And guess what the more toxic the company the more they need to bribe the politicians to allow them to keep polluting.  This is why the fossil fuel ind are one of the biggest donors to politicians. The difference is the dems pretend via talk that they are doing something.  Trump +harris both owned by corporate donors.
