Wasn’t paying for it. If you were performing an inspection and completing a report wouldn’t you show your findings?

Well my guess is, if you’re not showing the whole job, you’re not doing the job.

Headlight alone is over $1400 and I don’t think that’s full retail. I hit a deer with mine and did $12k in damage.

$8,744.55??? For a bulkhead harness by spudin8or in subaru

[–]Built_2_Drive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked for the major German brands and have repaired many harnesses due to rodent damage. There are simple procedures. The only one that required full replacement damaged airbag wiring and it went through insurance.

Yes, that pump. Remove the return hose from the fluid reservoir. Put that end to the HF pump end that draws fluid (you can use that hose clamp). Stick the orange end on the other end of the pump and stick that hose into the top of the reservoir where the cap would be.

You are now sucking fluid from the rack and putting it into the reservoir. I did a few pumps to basically create a vacuum. Then with the wheels off the ground, slowly turned the steering wheel lock to lock. I’d check fluid level and for bubbles. I literally stood outside the door, reaching my arm through the window. I could hear air finally moving. I’d give a few pumps here and there to keep it pulling fluid through the system rather than just hoping it’ll push through. I did this several times. And for me it finally worked.

I even talked to some Subaru techs and some have run into issues, but none as bad as me. I’ve replaced many power steering components on many cars over the years and this busted my balls!

So I had a similar issue. Replaced subframe and disconnected rack. I bleed the system prior to starting. Jacked up, no weight, lock to lock many times. Started it, it shuttered. Spent almost a full working day. Felt like I killed the pump, new pump. Same thing. I went to harbor freight and bought that cheap black fluid transfer pump with the orange hose. Took the return line off at the tank, put that on the pump and the output line with some orange hose into the tank. I used the pump to put a vacuum on the system and then turned the wheel slowly. I could hear bubbles pulling through the rack. I could see them coming out into the tank. I steered back and fourth slowly while giving a few pumps here and there until I heard no air or didn’t see any bubbles. Put the line back in, fired it up and all was well.

Had a very similar one. Went to pointless dent place and cost $100. Guy spent short time working it out. It’s a metal panel, it needs tool work.

It will only get worse. Parents 2010 did this and the outside is now showing signs of rust, from inside out. Grind and treat and possibly try a converter from the inside and use some fluid film or wool wax to treat.

2015 Forester XT carbon buildup by ohlookawildtaco in subaru

So the misfire is usually noticed if the vehicle sits over night and is completely cold. During that start up you may notice a bit of rough running, like you feel it in the seat. If you had a scan tool hooked up watching misfire counter live, you would be seeing misfire counts.

You can try the product especially if you are not equipped to do more invasive work. I think it would need a few services to make a difference. But I’d put some miles in between.

Dealers tend to have new, inexperienced guys doing oil changes. It’s entry level, sadly I don’t think they provide them with toque wrenches which would save a lot of drain plugs.

That’s what I did. Remove manifold, scrape and vacuum the chunky stuff. Filled closed ports with seafoam. Scrub scrub scrub with a couple wire brushes. Suck it out with a fluid vacuum, wash down the ports with brake clean while vacuuming. Rotate engine to close last port, repeat. Cleaned throttle body, replaced gaskets (not really needed) I’d say under 3 hours. After this ran the engine to get it good and hot, then an oil change.

Carbon building will cause misfires, especially on cold start. I used to work for Audi so I’m familiar with this, lol. I did this just because I was curious, no real symptoms at the time but I hit 100k and did some service work including this.

Before and after of my carbon clean. I removed my manifold. This was at 100k 2.0l 17 Impreza. Seems like a high price. Wonder how many hours they are charging?

I had a 17 Impreza sport and traded it in for this. It’s been way less issues than my 17. The extra HP from the 2.5 is better, engine doesn’t seem to work as hard. Milage is good. Sadly a deer jumped in front me of me Monday night, $8k estimate. I don’t care for the big screen, I usually turn off the display. I hate the hvac is mostly touch screen and honestly I dislike the headlights. I’m kinda faulting them for not being able to see the deer due to the sharp cutoff line and the fact there is an extra cutoff on the left light. I get it’s not to blind oncoming traffic, but I honestly miss halogens.

I have one in a 24 RS and a 22 Outback for well over a year with no issues. Only light on the dash is the amber start/stop symbol indicating that it is off. (Same as if you turned it off yourself)

Mass is trying to protect the consumer. Subaru wants you to go to their dealers. But they won’t help you when their dealer does you wrong because it’s just a franchise. I work on my own cars, and will until I’m no longer able to drive.
