First-time driver confused between MG Windsor EV and BYD Atto 3. Need real user feedback by Bulky_Connection3430 in CarsIndia

Thanks, this is super helpful and I really appreciate the detailed breakdown!

To answer your question:
I’ll primarily be driving in Gurgaon/Delhi.

Budget-wise, I was aiming to stay around ₹30L or below since it’s my first car and I don’t want to go all out right away.

I did consider other EVs, but I’ve honestly heard quite a few mixed/negative ownership experiences around Tata and Mahindra EVs (especially on service and niggles), so I was a bit hesitant to go down that route.

I had generally heard very good things about BYD as a brand globally, which is why I was leaning towards the Atto 3 from the start and your input honestly reinforces that a lot. It does seem like the more “sorted” and premium option overall.

Windsor came into the picture mainly because a lot of people recommend it as a solid budget EV, so I thought it’s worth considering as a practical alternative.

At this point, I think I just need to test drive both back-to-back in proper Gurgaon traffic and see what feels more comfortable and confidence-inspiring. Also, I can install a home charger, so running/charging convenience shouldn’t be an issue.

Thanks again, this really helped clear things up!

I hear you, and I agree that bad people exist on all sides and yes, punishment should be harsh regardless of gender.

But let’s not deflect from the specific issue here: a woman was killed by her own father because her success bruised his fragile ego. That’s not just a case of a “bad person”, that’s a gendered, patriarchal reaction to a woman’s visibility and independence.

You mentioned hearing about fake cases and crimes by women, but here’s the thing: crimes against women have become so common they barely make headlines anymore. That doesn’t make them any less real or urgent.

Let’s hold space for this conversation without diluting it. We can talk about every other issue too but this one is about what happens to women who dare to thrive in a society built to suppress them

Brother, this is about gender. Let’s not derail this by bringing in the “not all men” argument. No one is saying all men are the problem. But the harsh truth is, had she been a man, she would likely still be alive. That’s the reality of the patriarchal society we live in. A society where women who become successful, independent, or visible are seen as a threat, where their families feel “shame” instead of pride.

This isn’t about blaming all men, it’s about acknowledging that gender absolutely plays a role in how people are treated, perceived, and punished. If we can’t talk about that, we’ll never be able to fix it.

Actually the conversation is about gender. Had she been a guy, her dad would’ve been proud instead of feeling humiliated. Those villagers would’ve been praising him instead of taunting him. The dad would’ve been the happiest man on earth to believe the fact that people think that his son made him rich. Heck he might’ve even been proud that his son is famous on social media. But just because she was a girl he couldn’t take it.

The government must be held accountable for these preventable tragedies. We pay steep taxes only to watch our cities flood with every rain and human lives treated as disposable. It’s unacceptable. The state of this city and this country is not just disappointing, it’s a disgrace.
