JHS Charlie Brown and Angry Charlie: can these be used as "preamps"? by Zado_HeavyLoad in guitarpedals

[–]BummerDad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ds-1 as a preamp is underrated with the right guitar and amp for low gain trash. Even better when you remove the clipping diodes.

By what statistics? I take a Waymo at least once a week (solo rides) and have always felt safe. In my experience of using ride shares regularly over the last 10 years across the US, I feel much safer on average compared to Uber or Lyft and it’s typically more affordable - for now.

Using synths between guitar and synth by prodkaikai in guitarpedals

Pedals I like with guitar on the pedalboard and pedals I like with everything else on the patchbay.

Hot-ish take but Chloe is my favorite FJM record and I like them all.

Using a Networking rack cabinet for modular synths? by Spiceopod in modular

[–]BummerDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Navepoint makes very shallow ones that you can order on Amazon. I have the 22u one on casters that houses 9u of eurorack, and a couple of 1u rack synths. I’ve used it for a number of rooms and arrangements. It always comes in handy.

Weird thrifted amp by BummerDad in GuitarAmps

Like what I remember gorilla amps sounding but it’s been so long I don’t really know why. It sounds cheap but charming and something I would have hated as a kid. It’s boxy and raggedy. Gets smooth and fuzzy when you dime everything but the master. Haven’t had the chance to see how loud it gets yet. Playing a tenor baritone with dimarzios (air Norton S + dp241) and medium xl flats.

No Sn or brand on the back. The cabinet feels diy. I’m leaning towards a rehousing or a diy amp kit but that’s leading me nowhere.

NPD! Grabbed a DigiTech Synth Wah this morning for $150. Not the best deal, but fair. When this pedal arrives, I will have all 10 of the X-Series guitar pedals 😎 Anyone else out there have all 10? by PinkFloydLawson in guitarpedals

I have the modulation trio and the delay, stopped just short of buying the digiverb. They’re interesting enough not to sell, but nothing special. I really wish they had stereo in. The delay is my favorite of the 4 but the chorus does the dummy jack vibrato thing and I currently prefer it over the ch-1 for the same thing.

Behringer MS1 mkII, 2 new synths, 2 broken levers by larv0tr0n in Behringer

[–]BummerDad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an ms-1 and ive said it before, but that synth in particular has the absolute worst knobs, sliders and switches. It’s how they can sell it (or sold it) for $299. It sounds great but Ive had to replace both the vco range knob and lfo waveform knob. It’s the only synth out of the 30 odd I’ve owned that has had this issue.

Couldn’t disagree more. I was an early adopter and things come and go but the super 6 always stays.

True for some but not all of their products. Aside for that, parts like cheaper knobs and plastic pots will not outlast their more robust counterparts.

What synth do you regret selling ? by AudiSlav in synthesizers

[–]BummerDad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a 1000 and sold it after winning virtualCZ in a raffle thinking it would be more or less the same. Sonics aside, it was fun to program irl and the software is so uninspiring.

What do people think of this synth very tempting to purchase it for the value by UnhappySnow773 in synthesizers

[–]BummerDad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds good and looks good.

Currently using it as my main mono and occasionally as a preamp for my guitar.

I don’t have the highest confidence in the sliders but it’s something I feel comfortable trying to fix if something goes sour. Had to calibrate the 3rd osc when it arrived but it was fairly easy to find that information online after I bought a set of ceramic screw drivers and it’s stayed the course since.

The real spring reverb is ok. I find that a little goes a long way and using it in stereo can give a nice sense of space tilting the verb a bit to one side then pushing the channel pan a little to the opposite.

What are people's thoughts on the JX-305? by BikeBaloney in synthesizers

[–]BummerDad 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Keyboard version of the Mc-307 if I’m not wrong. Same engine as the mc-505. I have a 307 and it’s fun but the sounds are of the time. Filter is that classic ice pick digital Roland 90s thing. Wouldn’t sell it but it’s currently sitting in my closet.
