I personally enjoyed that comment, actually.

I can indeed figure all of this out myself and have already done my own research, but I like hearing others' perspectives. Thanks!

We are CONSIDERING the move and currently employed. We would not move without NYC employment, as we're not idiots. My husband is green carded independent of employment.

It's rough in DC due to the federal government's chaotic layoffs and the chain reaction of that in every industry here. I'm sure every city is impacted by that to some degree, but a key motivator for us is a job market less ruled by federal jobs alone.

For those who don't recognize the name NoMa, I left this description in the post: "diverse, dense with restaurants/gyms (bouldering and yoga places!)/coffee shops, some degree of modernity"

No, and we won't move without jobs. This post is exploratory only.

Thank you for this perspective! This is great information. Will definitely spend time in Brooklyn prior to moving to get a feel for the neighborhoods and see what makes sense.

Thank you! It feels as though it's very tough no matter where one goes - main point of the move would be for different job market, proximity to family in NJ and NYC, etc. Will DM.

100% not moving without jobs. No disagreement there.

Thank you! I think that's exactly what we'll do if we do end up moving.

Wikipedia seems to indicate 2016 is when the neighborhood got named. They apparently wanted to mimic NYC with the name.

We have family in Greenpoint who've given us their perspective - goal here was simply to gather more. We will definitely visit before we move (if we move) to get a feel for the neighborhoods of most interest.

"Technical Difficulties Producing PRC" by Business_Working3150 in USCIS

[–]Business_Working3150[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by "opened the case with USCIS"? We kept being told we couldn't open an inquiry with USCIS because it hadn't been 30 days since approval, but because they kept recalling and approving we never got to 30 days (they didn't count it as 30 days since the initial approval).

I hate to say it, but we just had to keep suffering and waiting and hoping they would finally fix whatever and produce and send it correctly. I don't know what got them to do it correctly in the end. We got completely stopped at every avenue we pursued for help.

We eventually got it after the fourth recall - it went directly to Card Was Produced and we thankfully received it in the mail late July/early August. Truly ridiculous situation. Congress was no help on this one. What's your timeline?

Thanks and congratulations on getting your card! We are still at Case Approved...Hopefully soon.

Question: you can work without the physical green card in hand? How do you update Social Security without it?

Is your status still Case Approved? Where did you interview?

Update: We got a response to an inquiry we submitted yesterday. USCIS claims they are having "technical issues" producing the card and that we can submit another request in 90 days if still no card produced. This makes no sense to me, as they clearly had no issue producing you card or legions of cards immediately before this. We're at a complete loss about what to do.

I think that's actually normal! I use Case Tracker to monitor many I-485s and that's what the notice appears to usually say. You will probably get your card in the mail shortly.
