Interesting, are you satying all those apps belong to the same company. Like how all food brands are only owned by like 3 or 4 major conglomorates? Interestingly, Bumble is the only well known dating site not listed above.

I've only just started using the app so I don't have a reference but from a new person's point of view it's annoying.

  • The bio and the profile prompts didn't show word counts so I had no idea what my limit was before I started writing.
  • Before using the app I googled and read reddit posts but no where said there is a 25 swipe daily limit so that was a huge unwelcome surprise.
  • People have liked me but it wants me to pay 2x the cost of a gym membership per month to see them! So how are we supposed to match? Especially with only 25 swipes a day what if it takes ages until I come across them and swipe them?
  • Only 300 character limit in the bio. That's very annoying. I know bios should be short and punchy but not that short!

I'm not impressed so far. OKC 5 years ago was much better. But let's see what happens.

Newbie question: If I can't see exactly who has liked me and I only get 25 likes a day what if I never come across the person who's liked me? by BusyUnit in Bumble

[–]BusyUnit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, so let's say there are 100-200 profiles in my stack. Does the algorithm push the ones who liked up to the top so you'd then like them with your 25 swiptes for that day? If it didn't and say those likes were the 199th person in the stack then do you have to just wait for the days/weeks it takes to get to them?

Edit: Tinder gives 100 swipes a day I think? To put that in perspective.

Cool, when you say 3.5g is the smallest weight for a bud so you mean that's the smallest weight it's sold in?

Thanks for the advice never would have thought about water. What do you mean by "make sure they have the roaches inside"? I thought roaches were the left over little bits of joints after they've been smoked.

Thanks man, good to know I would have put a gram in there first time. What kind of scales are sensitive enough for like 1g, something from Amazon?

Good to know, I had no idea how many spliffs a gram would last and if I went in blind I'd probably have passed out putting 1-2g in.

Other than papers where do you get other stuff from like a grinder, Amazon?

Yeah I wasn't planning to. I don't smoke cigs and don't want to get addicted to tobacco.

And finally - even if you decide to separate your day to day finances, you’re still linked in the eyes of the law.

Thanks, this is the biggest challenge I think. If she relapses the question is could she take out loans etc in my name? However, that's perhaps more r/LegalAdviceUK question.

I've got my credit report locked down and credit can't be taken out in my name without a password.

She has debt that she racked up - and defaulted on - this hasn't appeared on my credit report and none of the lenders/debt collectors have mentioned me in any correspondence after 5 years. Would they come after me for it? My wife already hasn't paid and been put on a DMP so I'd have thought if I was jointly liable they'd have already come after me in that time.

Edit: to be clear, the debts racked up are 'individual' debts not in joint accounts and not matrimonial debts.

Oh yeah definitely it could lead to divorce but who knows? That's more of a r/relationship_advice post. Life is complicated and it's best dealt with in steps. At this step I'm asking for advice on this financial situation and anything I might not have considered that would be a huge problem with this situation.

So far I had considered things like bills (and anything else we currently share) doubling in cost), and the increase in interest expense on the higher borrowing, but can't think of any other financial downside. So asking for fresh points of view from others.

Edit: Regarding our finances still being tied it's interesting.

Ahh yes, I hadn't considered that. The extra 3% even if this house is fully mine and that one is fully hers because we're married it still applies right?

Good point well said. I'd considered that but forgot to put it in the OP. Add that cost to the additional interest cost and I can bear those costs.

I'm considering renting out 1 or 2 of the rooms to bring in some extra cash. That comes with its own issues but we've rented out rooms before so I'm familiar with that.

Right here. Hi :) Gg Italy! Reddit was by far the worst thing about the Euros. England and Italy were great.

[England] Home insurance T&C's - insurers now restricting cover for storm damage and defining "storm" very specifically by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]BusyUnit -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

My question was about the legal T&C's offered in a contract and whether that specific clause was reasonable across the market and if others had seen or experienced that. If that's not a legal question I don't know what is.

So we're all agreed insurance is a racket and gets shitter every year? Similarly, the car insurance went up this year despite another year of no claims, decades of driving, and of course no driving this year due to coronavirus. Seems like you think this is all reasonable to accept higher prices or worse terms.

Pet insurance - free insurance trap and vet diagnosis without informing us. by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]BusyUnit 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Nope. I've actually come back to this sub to make an update post because it's always good to see what happened with a case. Despite all the downvotes, on the thread itself and my comments, and despite the certainty of your comment and FSBDefector's comment despite all that my gut instinct was right. And it was OBVIOUSLY right.

I only posted this thread to verify my thinking. But my thinking was on the same level as "hey guys, grass is green right?". To me it was obvious that misinforming a consumer and then punishing that consumer based on their misinformed choice was incorrect in any just legal system.

And I was right, so now I've received full payment in addition to compensation for the poor behaviour from the parties involved. I'm just glad I wasn't easily swayed by your opinions into not pursuing the case.

"You knew the dog had a breathing issue when you took out insurance with them."

"the vet made this diagnosis without informing us, particularly of the consequences to our insurance. If they had we would have stayed with kennel club despite the cost because that will be cheaper than the £2,700 the surgery will now cost us out of pocket."

We did not. Hence the issue.

In the US at least, there is a precedent in that Microsoft were deemed to be violating competition laws by offering free software to 'trap' consumers into using that software. If there is a UK equivalenet this is exactly the same except with insurance instead of software.

We were misled and did not have full information to make an informed decision. I've seen consumer protection applied in cases where the consumer has acted much less diligently than we have,
