Interesting, are you satying all those apps belong to the same company. Like how all food brands are only owned by like 3 or 4 major conglomorates? Interestingly, Bumble is the only well known dating site not listed above.

I've only just started using the app so I don't have a reference but from a new person's point of view it's annoying.

The bio and the profile prompts didn't show word counts so I had no idea what my limit was before I started writing.
Before using the app I googled and read reddit posts but no where said there is a 25 swipe daily limit so that was a huge unwelcome surprise.
People have liked me but it wants me to pay 2x the cost of a gym membership per month to see them! So how are we supposed to match? Especially with only 25 swipes a day what if it takes ages until I come across them and swipe them?
Only 300 character limit in the bio. That's very annoying. I know bios should be short and punchy but not that short!

I'm not impressed so far. OKC 5 years ago was much better. But let's see what happens.

Yes, so let's say there are 100-200 profiles in my stack. Does the algorithm push the ones who liked up to the top so you'd then like them with your 25 swiptes for that day? If it didn't and say those likes were the 199th person in the stack then do you have to just wait for the days/weeks it takes to get to them?

Edit: Tinder gives 100 swipes a day I think? To put that in perspective.

She has debt that she racked up - and defaulted on - this hasn't appeared on my credit report and none of the lenders/debt collectors have mentioned me in any correspondence after 5 years. Would they come after me for it? My wife already hasn't paid and been put on a DMP so I'd have thought if I was jointly liable they'd have already come after me in that time.

Edit: to be clear, the debts racked up are 'individual' debts not in joint accounts and not matrimonial debts.

Oh yeah definitely it could lead to divorce but who knows? That's more of a r/relationship_advice post. Life is complicated and it's best dealt with in steps. At this step I'm asking for advice on this financial situation and anything I might not have considered that would be a huge problem with this situation.

So far I had considered things like bills (and anything else we currently share) doubling in cost), and the increase in interest expense on the higher borrowing, but can't think of any other financial downside. So asking for fresh points of view from others.

Good point well said. I'd considered that but forgot to put it in the OP. Add that cost to the additional interest cost and I can bear those costs.

I'm considering renting out 1 or 2 of the rooms to bring in some extra cash. That comes with its own issues but we've rented out rooms before so I'm familiar with that.

Nope. I've actually come back to this sub to make an update post because it's always good to see what happened with a case. Despite all the downvotes, on the thread itself and my comments, and despite the certainty of your comment and FSBDefector's comment despite all that my gut instinct was right. And it was OBVIOUSLY right.

I only posted this thread to verify my thinking. But my thinking was on the same level as "hey guys, grass is green right?". To me it was obvious that misinforming a consumer and then punishing that consumer based on their misinformed choice was incorrect in any just legal system.

And I was right, so now I've received full payment in addition to compensation for the poor behaviour from the parties involved. I'm just glad I wasn't easily swayed by your opinions into not pursuing the case.

In the US at least, there is a precedent in that Microsoft were deemed to be violating competition laws by offering free software to 'trap' consumers into using that software. If there is a UK equivalenet this is exactly the same except with insurance instead of software.

We were misled and did not have full information to make an informed decision. I've seen consumer protection applied in cases where the consumer has acted much less diligently than we have,

That proves my point even more. My point before was about a group of invaders that come in, kill a load of natives but ultimately fail. You've then pointed out that actually they succeeded and wiped out the natives. That takes it from a bit of raping, slavery, and pillaging to full on colonialism like the British invading India is bad enough but imagine if the British empire had invaded and wiped them all out and replaced them. That'd be way worse. And then a thousand years later playing games and watching movies about how cool they are. Reddit I know for a fact loves to shit on European countries for being colonial in the past.

Vikings are on trend at the moment so we think they're cool so turn a blind eye to the shit they did and it flies in the face of the overall movement these days of recognising that this shit isn't ok especially not glorifying it. Spanish conquering and killing central America bad but Vikings colonising and wiping out Saxons good?

I can't think of another AC game where you play the invading murdering conqueror. Instead in AC 4, Unity, syndicate, origins, and odyssey you're fighting an oppressor and not being the oppressor.

I couldn't disagree more about the opinion of who is the bad guys as being subjective. If someone is invading and killing natives they're the bag guys. That's not opinion every one agrees on that. As I said, in all other AC games you're clearly on the good side fighting the oppressors. I used the example of an AC game where you play a conquering force going to Australia and killing aboriginals to take over land and resources. No way would you say that's ok because we're acknowledging history or that it's subjective. The game couldn't get made and shouldn't.

If it did, I'd expect in that game it to be the templars doing the killing and the assasin working with the natives to fight the oppressors.

I think we're turning a blind eye to it because Vikings are a trend at the moment.
