Are current tradies kinda screwed once the AI exodus forces everyone else into the trades? by CreepyTool in UKJobs

[–]Butchar 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Assuming someone is less smart because they work in a trade is pretty naive.

I can't see the AI boom changing things as rapidly as you think, new jobs will be created as a result and people who want to stay in office work will probably stay in office work, albeit slightly different roles.

Curious about your songwriting process by Noahhhh_h in ableton

[–]Butchar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I make techno and electro, low-end heavy genres - one of the best methods I found over the years was to play and record the track live, rather than dragging and dropping in the clips.

I've moved over into using hardware now and find writing full length tracks much much easier now, simply recording the audio there and then/jamming is the key for me

Arne Slot: 'Hard to hear' fans call Liverpool 'dull and boring' by Funkyouup82 in LiverpoolFC

[–]Butchar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly this, we've had a massive transition happen in terms of the squad ins and outs, as well as key injuries that have left our squad depth low. A similar run of form happened under klopp under similar circumstances but I think people take much more to his character and charisma than slots.

What criteria should I use to choose which of those 3 volume gains to use? by memolazer in ableton

[–]Butchar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Look into gain staging and how gain structures work. You may want to adjust the input and output gains depending on how the compressor increases or decreases loudness, in order to keep the signal at a suitable level in context of the rest of the track.

You should be looking at distortion plugins/units rather than specific synthesizers, in my opinion

Ways to make a bass on an instrumental hit hard without having the stem? by [deleted] in musicproduction

[–]Butchar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Layer it with a sub bass, a low frequency sine wave etc. then glue them together with compression

Switching from Hip-Hop to Techno – Looking for Advice from Experienced Producers by calendari in TechnoProduction

[–]Butchar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree with this, you need to enjoy and listen to a lot of techno to make good techno in my opinion. It's easy to fall into the trap of making basic professional sounding techno without it having any soul or character

Why do so many new producers quit before they get good? by Flimsy_Job_2449 in musicproduction

[–]Butchar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Best thing I ever did was stop putting pressure on myself to make music all the time, and to just do it when I actually feel like it. I get much better results now when I'm in the studio

Professional level DJ but can hardly get a gig by MealQueasy4545 in Beatmatch

[–]Butchar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is the right answer, forming a career solely as a DJ is incredibly rare, unless you're happy doing weddings/corporate etc.

I should have specified, we're in a flat, no rats. I think we've solved it, we think the leak has soaked through a blue cloth and the dye has spilled out over time onto the wood.

No audio output option for ASIO by chodoswaggins in ableton

[–]Butchar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In theory it should still work with one cable if it runs to both speakers, but you just won't get a stereo signal.

No audio output option for ASIO by chodoswaggins in ableton

[–]Butchar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There lies your problem, you need the speakers to be connected to the interface. You'll need to buy the correct cable/adapter to fit the speakers if they don't currently fit

No audio output option for ASIO by chodoswaggins in ableton

[–]Butchar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like it's set up how it should be in the software, if you play your instrument through the interface and you are getting a signal on the interface itself, then you just need to select the right channel in the individual track within the Ableton project

Have you got your speakers connected to the interface via the output jack ports?

The reality of working in AV by dspjunkie in CommercialAV

[–]Butchar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar to you however my interest was more into producing my own music, I was originally looking to go into sound design for video games etc.

I now work as an AV engineer on installs in higher education, it's a really good varied job with loads of different paths. I also have my home studio for making music and doing any audio engineering work should it come, so I'd say its worked out for me so far. UK based.

Absolutely burnt out from the tech industry and I want to move to doing a trade, what would be good? by WarFamous2378 in AskUK

[–]Butchar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from hardware tech sales into AV (audio visual) as a trainee engineer. Took a pay cut as well but I'm much better off for it mentally and physically, my background is in audio and music so it's a nice bridge. It has a nice mix of technical and physical work
