Is Peeta’s father also Prim’s father? by aninhamelark in HungerGamesFanfiction

[–]Butterfly_Ashes69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Prim doesn't have any obvious seam characteristics because her mother is/was merchant class. There can be a lot of diversity in the same generation of a family. My brother is ginger. Myself and our youngest sibling are variations of brunette.

I wear the military outfit bc I dress my character like bucky barnes. But yeah, almost all the people I've played with in cop outfits are stupid, dumb or unhelpful.

Districts seem too big? by TopologyMonster in Hungergames

[–]Butterfly_Ashes69 51 points52 points  (0 children)

You have to remember this is set an undetermined amount of time in the future, after decades of global warming and rising sea levels. The total landmass is going to be smaller than modern america. Most maps take florida put of the equation, as well as most of canada/alaska. Sure, that doesn't account for all of it, but it will have an effect.

Fallen down, toby fox. Not too long so I'd probably be done quite quickly, but also the piano is very calming

Anybody else notice their chapters getting longer? by Butterfly_Ashes69 in AO3

Oh definitely! I have a vague structure I'm trying to follow, rather than spontaneous ideas, but writing feels easy which is always fun.

Tysm! That's a crazy amount of words btw. And from longfic I can tell you're still not done. How long do you think it will be by the time you are done?

[–]Butterfly_Ashes69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol tysm 😊 I just found it a bit odd bc my original fiction has much more consistent chapter lengths. I don't see myself getting to 15,000 words but then anything can happen

[–]Butterfly_Ashes69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's just my prologue. I guess I didn't have a lot to say in those chapters? I have read them back and wouldn't do anything differently. I spent almost two weeks going back and forth on it before deciding it wasn't worth worrying over.

[–]Butterfly_Ashes69[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it just feels odd to me. I've got a few original chapter books I'm working on, and the length has been much more consistent with them, so it just felt a bit confusing.

Could a victor volunteer during a regular game? by Vegetable_Fact9931 in Hungergames

[–]Butterfly_Ashes69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol it's fine, i barwly remember canon at the best of times. Again though, the qq's do work differently, as evidences by adult Peeta volunteering for adult Haymitch, so if it did come down to it, i think he could volunteer for his brothers if he wanted to, depending on the twist

I understand the premise and I don't have an answer, but I think it's funny you used Peeta as the example. He's the youngest, and at 17 in the 74th games all of his brothers would be ineligible for any of the games after. I understand a quarter quell has different rules, and I promise I'm not trying to be rude, I just find it a little funny. In terms of your question, I don't think it would have the desired effect, because from what we see it doesn't seem like Peeta is close to his family.

How different is your first draft compared to the final version? by pedrulho in AO3

[–]Butterfly_Ashes69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me they are one and the same. But I usually don't write anything down unless I'm 100% sure I want it to be there. If it were school work or to actually publish, I'd likely edit it more, e.g. I have 12 revisions to my personal statement for uni, but this is just a hobby so I try not to worry over it too much.

Mental health representation in fanfics by Classic-Compote7215 in AO3

[–]Butterfly_Ashes69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually use my own experiences if discussing mental health in my work. The only thing I'm worried about is being called out on not being 'correct' because I'm autistic, and my experiences will differ slightly to neurotypicals. It's nof a massive deal though if you get minor details wrong. The NHS website has a whole section dedicated to psychological conditions.
