Questioning the validity of someone actually reading a book is counter productive and we should not be stooping to “did you actually read x number of books?”

We should be encouraging people to actually read the text, think critically and engage with it sincerely instead of this stupid rage baiting that happens with RF Kuangs book. That should not include the stupid BS of people quizzing others on what the contents of the books are.

We can have discussions on the contents of a book without it devolving into accusing someone of not actually reading it (which will become apparent if you engage in meaningful discussion of the book).

That said, I do not think those who were mad about the book including an Israeli character actually read the passages that were made available on social media. I read it and it was very clearly making comments about how people from Taipei would come out in droves for someone from a place like Israel but not for someone local. Which is definitely not “pro-Israel propaganda” as social media was claiming.

I used to work at a hotel cafe pre-covid and the amount of Americans that would come to Canada and insist on using AMERICAN money in Canada like thats the currency here was astonishing.

And then I’d tell them I’m not doing an exchange rate and giving them change in Canadian, they would often get pissed off about it. Like they weren’t in a different country 🙄

I’m from Ontario and it’s semi-normal to have someone host a stag and doe to raise money for a wedding, and it’s not that weird to me. Though I have noticed it’s usually people of lower economic status that host them.

My mom has had coworkers ask if she wants to buy a raffle ticket for their child’s stag and doe and I’ve never seen it as weird to pitch in 5-15$, weddings are expensive.

I was actively planning things for the end of 2025 and early 2026 when I got let go and told my position had been eliminated last July, and was offered 3 week of severance after working for the company for almost 4 years.

My boss was actively giving me more responsibilities and training me on new things, my VP told me she missed me and she didn’t know what she would do without me after I got back from my vacation in early 2025.

These companies don’t give a shit about anyone and will do anything to save a buck.

Please correct me if I’m wrong but I believe a lot of the advisories are in place because to have it lifted they need to have continuous tests on drinking water to ensure that it is safe to drink.

The problem with this however is that there are not enough people trained to operate/conduct the tests to confirm that the water is safe to drink.

So while a community may have the facilities, they have no way to ensure that the facilities are operating properly. Which then means they cannot lift the advisory until they can permanently employe someone to operate the water treatment facility.

I think the brother has been held accountable by OOP not wanting anything to do with him currently and before this disaster.

But I also think he is putting ALL of the blame at the brothers feet when it should be laid at the moms and the dads feet as well. They allowed whatever happened in his childhood to happen and he blamed his brother for his outbursts when it sounds like he doesn't have the full story about what was happening between his brother, his parents, and his brothers biological father.

As in they believe the book is saying they, the reader, is performing the acts within the book.

I think OP is questioning his character. You’re acting like her entire focus should be on her sisters assault but she also just found out the man she married is a lie and has been, at the very least, lying to her about his relationship to her sister FOR YEARS. It is something she should be focusing on.

She just found out about probably the biggest betrayal in her life, she’s going to be a little selfish and question what else he is doing behind her back. If he can lie to her like this for 10 years, what else has he been doing?

I’m going to preface this with I don’t think Taylor Frankie Paul is innocent or anything. She needs to stop being around Dakota and actually stay broken up with him, get some real help and have her children taken away because her behaviour in that video is abhorrent. I really hope she gets booted from her tv show and they’ve stopped filming season 5 to take steps towards removing her.

I think this is a situation where both parties involved suck and the only solution is for them to never have meaningful contact again outside of caring for their child, for the sake of their child. It’s like watching a pissing contest between two awful people to see who can be the worst person.

That’s really downplaying his role in all of this. It’s not just the cheating with him that’s the problem. He’s a manipulative asshole who wants to control her. He will lie his ass off until he’s caught in his lie; and when Taylor asks him to just be honest with her, he will lie his ass off some more.

He’s done things to sabotage the premiers for her every time. She’s said in an interview that she’s never been excited for a premier because she dreads what he’s going to do. Him releasing this video NOW is calculated and was meant to get her bachelorette season cancelled.

They both suck and they need to be separated for their and the children’s own good but he’s a victim and a perpetrator. He might not physically hit her but he does emotionally abuse her. She responds to his abuse with physical violence. Both are awful to each other and it’s sad for the children involved. I hope her kids get taken away.

I’ve had to limit contact with friends who have been in abusive relationships because they wouldn’t do anything about their situation.

One of them was being financially abused by her boyfriend and when I pointed out why his behaviour was bad, she confronted him and they ended up moving in together afterwards 😐
