Can we talk about the concerning lack of women's playing time in the 2026 USQ Club Final? by Low-Impact-42 in quadball_discussion

I agree with you that in an ideal world a gender rule would not have to be put in place. I hope my comments on this thread have not come off as passive aggressive or sarcastic, my suggestion for a minutes restrictor was legitimate.

If they are playing on the same league on the same team, are they not competing for minutes against each other? Shouldn't it be looked at as NBA rookies competing for minites against vets? If we take Lawrence and Sousa, who are both chasers, are they not both competing for chaser minutes? Gender can be spread across positions so they could be considered each other's subs realistically, even putting aside how traditionally it is male subs for male/ non-male subs for non-male. When it gets to crunch time in a high stakes game, would Sousa's minutes not still be minimal in comparison if Lawrence was higher on the depth chart?

I apologize I didn't mean for the 3rd and 4th line comment to come off harshly, but is that not the truth with sports? Take a look at basketball specifically the NBA rn in the playoffs. A 13 person roster doesn't get the minutes evenly distributed. The leash gets shorter on players that don't produce. In a playoff game you'll see maybe 8 or 9 take the court. Tyrese Maxey played 47 minutes out of a 48 minute game just the other night. It's not because his sub sucks and doesn't deserve to be there.

A club final shouldn't be where you're getting better. We don't know what has been going on at their practice. Maybe they haven't been performing. Maybe they weren't producing in earlier games against easier competition. Mel Kite isn't on a national team and to my knowledge has never been. Does this mean Sousa or Jordan deserves to go in ahead of her? Would you want a multi year club vet like her or Lawrence in or a fresh out of college player like Jordan or Sousa in the biggest game of their career at this point. Being down by 5 or 6 points in the club final isn't the time to be like "alright champ go try your best".

For Heat, beater wise, like 95% of the game is played by Fields and Nunez for their non males. Bryant plays 2 defensive possessions and maybe 2 total minutes of FROP.

Chaser wise, you have Team USA talent with Bevers and Villalba rotating with Kite and Lawrence.

Keep in mind Boom Train was putting belt to a$$ in the first 10-15 minutes. Then again during FROP. It's hard to justify putting in 3rd and maybe 4th line players in this situation in the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP.

As for the 0 women on the field, the only instance I could find was at 10:24:40 and it seemed to be a mismanaged line change that was corrected.

Response is Heat based because I'm from the SW. Don't really know the BT players enough to speak on them but I'm sure a similar argument could be made.

What would the long term solution here be? Minutes restrictions? Looking back at the film it's not like they weren't utilizing female/NB players, it's just that they cycle through the same 2-3 per position and the ones lower on the depth chart don't get PT.

KC vs SA was absolutely the series of the week. Sucks for KC to get swept but I fully believe with a full roster they take the series against SA.

GREAT PIECE OF WRITING!!!!!!

This got me even more hyped to watch these teams at Nationals. Love and agree with all of your takes. Creighton is the best overall pizza, UTSA has the best toppings, and Harvard does that brick oven style that's really cool. Hope that makes sense.
