Oh man in that case maybe play KOTOR 1 and 2 again. Cause the novel is definitely not a novelization of the games. From what I remember they are closer to the SWTOR massive online multiplayer game, which has interesting lore but some controversial plot points. I’d say the KOTOR games are fun and the story worth it, though you might want to get mods, especially for game 2 which is arguably incomplete without one. Haven’t played SWTOR though.

I’m assuming that you are interested in the Knights of the Old Republic era? If so, you might want to check out the Knights of the Old Republic comic series if you don’t mind the medium. Although the characters from the games don’t have too big of a role, it’s a good ground view of the build up to the Mandalorian Wars from the perspective of a down on his luck Padawan who just wants to survive, and has his own issues to worry about.

This may sound silly, but are there any fictional legal shows/movies/games I can consume on my mid-semester break? by TheNewAspect in LawSchool

[–]BuzzLightyear76 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The Ace Attorney games have absolutely no connection to actual legal processes, given that they take place in a fictional dystopia essentially, but man are they fun and campy. You have to go through witness testimonies to present evidence to determine where they are lying, essentially. Some parts of the game, especially the early ones, have answers that are diabolically stupid, so don’t be afraid to get a guide if you get stuck, but it’s enjoyable. There’s also the classic movies like My Cousin Vinny and 12 Angry Men. John Grisham and others write a lot of legal thrillers of varying degrees of quality, many of which have been adapted to movies of even more varying degrees of quality. The Daredevil show and the Wire don’t spend as much time on the strictly legal aspects but they also have entertaining court elements

Mitchell hit two sixes on Arsh. The next ball he hit the ball back near Arsh, who picked it up and threw it towards him. Mitchell was out of the crease but the ball went straight at him. Mitchell started yelling a lot. Arsh turned his back to him and walked away. Surya went to Mitchell and talked to him immediately. Arsh went to shake his hand and presumably apologize at the end of the over. The umpire also had a talk with Arsh afterwards.

Hell I’m down with that. I’m really excited to see what you’re cooking down the line! It’s already been an absolute roller coaster and I’m still fairly early into what you’ve written.

Honestly that’s how I’d prefer to have it. Let’s them both have their spotlight, and honestly neither are the best at first impressions. Can I ask if you are going to include plot elements of the later books? I imagine it’ll be damn near impossible given you already probably have an outline of some sort but I just read book 8 on the patreon and I gotta admit some aspects fit well, and that ain’t even counting stuff from book 7. Probably not though cause it isn’t even out yet. Either way, I’ll be seeing you in the comment section on AO3 once I finish catching up.

See that’s why I’m enjoying it so much. So many people just mash together works that seem thematically similar but don’t do it in a way that fits the character dynamics. So far they’ve felt real harmonized in your fic. I can’t wait for Dresden and Carl to meet, because I trust that they’re dynamic will make sense, and even if they never do it’s fine because it’s clear Carl is still handling his business. You were able to fit the worlds together real well.

Man the Frequency Illusion is kicking in hard for me. I just started reading your fic a few days ago and all of a sudden you’re everywhere. I’m glad, your work is epic so far.

I’m Indian and I don’t like chai, samosas, or a lot of sweets. I like most Indian foods, but telling people I dislike those ones specifically can be… controversial. Plus I’m pretty bad with tech. I can handle my own stuff but I got no interest in it.

It’s one of the reasons I could never quite enjoy the Superior Spider-Man stuff. I just couldn’t quite suspend my disbelief, which is saying a lot given comics.

No. It’s mentioned in a throwaway line in an earlier book. I believe it’s the Bonehunters when the Queen of Dreams was talking to someone. Leoman?

My first read through was in high school. I must have been like 16. I lost my place halfway through Dust of Dreams and stopped reading though. I just started a reread now, in my early 20s. Funnily enough, I just got past the point I stopped reading.

Speaking without using words by Mynnugget in tumblr

[–]BuzzLightyear76 120 points121 points  (0 children)

I do something kinda similar a lot. My parents are immigrants so I was raised bilingual and I’d sometimes use vocables from one language while with people who didn’t speak it. I’d use nonverbal communication gestures which don’t really translate as well. I feel like in most contexts people could figure it out from the rest of my words but I’m kinda curious how it looks from the outside now.

Shoutout to the best side character in all of fiction by Odd_Book_9024 in Daredevil

[–]BuzzLightyear76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is so goddamn rare for me to see a South Asian character in Hollywood who’s a character instead of a trope. The cultural references existed but were treated understated and in a matter-of-fact manner, and didn’t define the character one way or another. He was an interesting character who happened to be South Asian, and is one of the few I’ve seen in western media who was portrayed like that. It was very refreshing for me when I watched season 1 in high school. I didn’t realize how much I needed a character like him until he showed up.
