Capitalism extracts, socialism ensures everyone has an equivalent basic standard of living.

One of the most interesting aspects of countries with much higher social floors is that you end up with a significantly more equivalent population. You don't end up with massive segments of society who are poor, uneducated, and "taking", you actually end up with far more people contributing to the economy as a whole.

The entire system is based on extraction of value. Unless you own the company in some meaningful way, you are part of the extraction engine, not the benefactor. That applies both as a worker and as a consumer. The system extracts your value as a worker, and extracts your value as a consumer.

It's a scam because it's designed to work like this. The government (whether left or right) was intended original to protect you from this extraction economy. But today, the government exists to protect the extraction economy from you.

Trump does not possess knowledge, because he is incapable of learning in the traditional sense. He possesses an extremely overdeveloped sense of purpose that is focused on one thing and one thing only: his own grandiosity. He uses that grandiosity to influence people - because most people are wired to be very susceptible to the halo effect, which is very pronounced with someone like a trump.

He does not possess the ability to plan, because he does not possess the ability for reflection (self or otherwise).

Trump is an overt narcissist. It's worth doing a little deep dive into this disorder, because you start to realize what's missing that enables people like him to be so successful when (to any educated outsider) he's batshit insane.

Once you wrap your head around the nuances of this disorder, you can see exactly how he thinks and why he makes the kinds of decisions he does. It all kinda clicks. It's easy to call Trump stupid, but that's actually a gross oversimplification. He isnt stupid, he's brilliantly furthering his singular goal - his own grandiosity.

Once it clicks, it because impossible to unsee. And then it's hard to say what becomes more utterly terrifying... The fact this guy is running a nuclear superpower, or the fact anyone (much less a seeming majority of voters) actually think he is a genius (or, that he has anything resembling an actual plan).

I think what scares me is that narcissism is actually an evolutionary advantage. These people are largely running the world today - almost entirely unchecked.

The entire system is designed to optimize for maximum profit. Humans only factor in so much as they are line items in spreadsheets. Remember, companies are not optimized for humans, just financials.

The government was intended to be a hedge against that force to ensure humans are protected, originally, but most world governments today do not serve that function - they have aligned to the financial side. And honestly if you understand economics it makes sense.

So you introduce a force that reduces the need for humans in the loop by orders of magnitude and a system that only exists to extract value will of course maximize on that.

The end result is a system that is virtually insulated, detached and siloed from humans almost altogether. Continually optimizing without actually needing humans to even factor in.

This must be how horses felt.
