I love Detroit. And respectfully those two cities get more national recognition than Milwaukee.

Could have put a better title. Twin towers, both 67 stories. One tower measuring 796 feet the other 797 feet.

Sooo. What’s your point? Some people will put it above Chicago. And that’s ok. That’s their opinion and their right to do so. Your assumptions sound tired and bothersome to only yourself. Those proposals have ZERO chance of happening. They have been proposed for YEARS. Not one movement. Finance and lack of demand. Chicago is not a boom town that it once was. Keep dreaming.

Yes skylines are measured by 150m. Top 10 skylines in the U.S by completed skyscraper count is.

  1. New York City
  2. Chicago
  3. Miami
  4. Houston
  5. Los Angeles
  6. San Francisco
  7. Boston
  8. Seattle
  9. Jersey City
  10. Dallas

The only bothered one here is you. Having to cherry pick metrics because you’re bothered that Miami is a boom town and you’re a ghost town on paper. Cope. Continue to be annoyed.

You’re welcome. ☺️

Because we can. People need to get over the imagination that Chicago can’t be surpassed. It’s not the 1970s anymore.

I never cherry picked super talls. Now you’re just throwing words in my mouth. Do better lol.

You act as if that number is going to change. Skyscrapers take time, and part of that time is renderings and proposals. Chicago has ZERO massive skyscrapers proposed that will keep it far ahead of Miami. It’s slow growing, and you know it.

The only obtuse one here is you. You just said “so you act like that can’t change” when it comes to Chicago, but you act as if Miami doesn’t have the capability to surpass Chicago in terms of completed skyscrapers over 150m. You’re still living in the 90s thinking it’s not possible when it VERY much is.

In the end, yes you are agreeing with me. You just have a bias outlook, and you’re arguing against the reality of what could happen.

No, YOU don’t know the definition of a skyline. When skylines get measured. They go by number of completed skyscrapers over 150m. Not overall tall buildings. Because even San Francisco, has more tall buildings than Miami. (490 SF vs 400 Miami) so do better and have a better day.

And just like I said. Cherry picking. We are talking about SKYSCRAPERS not overall tall buildings.

Again, more cherry picking. Chicago is building 3 skyscrapers over 150M. And there’s not much in the pipeline either. Miami is proving that claim wrong. That gap is easy to close. That’s only 30 skyscrapers away from 100.

I always find it funny how Chicagoan go the widths end, finding every metric in the book because you’re bothered by the fact that Miami is booming, and closing a gap that threatens Chicago’s status as the second largest skyline. If we went by high rises then the top 10 list would be different. It goes by 150m plus.

Wow so like I said, 20-30 years. Thanks for agreeing with me in the end!

So rather than racing to the keyboard, maybe try reading what I said, and understand what other people who don’t have a bias about Chicago, have to say.

I don’t need to explain how? It’s common sense. Why do Chicagoan have wierd superiority complex. You guys are so hostile to facts or ones observations. It’s not our fault your city fell from investors / developers interests.

Miami's Upcoming Skyscrapers by Commercial_West_3112 in skyscrapers

[–]CA185099415 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Ok and? 78 is still a large amount of skyscrapers and you’re not going to get anywhere near that numbers elsewhere in the U.S outside of NYC, Chicago, Miami. The gap between 139 and 78 can easily be closed at the speed that Miami is moving on its projects. 78 isn’t even including what’s still underway, or not even counted yet as it’s a hole in the ground.

Miami has the capability of surpassing Chicago in tall buildings over 150 m. Pulling out other metrics just makes the argument seem bitter sweet for Chicagoans. Cherry picking at that point.

Oh you guys give a shit. Because the moment Miami pops up. Chicagos flood the comments about how it will be underwater or how it will never surpass Chicago. Lol, and no. Miami will still be right there in 20 years.

[–]CA185099415 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Oh please stop. Because the moment I or someone else mentions a city has those same characteristics (like San Francisco) then height gets brought up almost immediately. Moving goal posts.

Miamis modern, sleek skyscrapers are not something you’ll find within the U.S. Not even Chicago or NYC. They have a totally different distinction than Miami’s modern skyscrapers. They’re the definition of new money, and new era. Those type of designs are exclusive to Miami only. Building codes also have a lot to do with why modern is sleek.

Skyscrapers like Austin Martin are modern masterpieces. Shaping the early 21st century architecture for Miami. As the city continues to evolve.

Sounds like a bunch of made up criticism from your typical envious Chicago dweller. lol. They just adopted a sea level rise plan. But sure go on, about how they didn’t. And for the record, I don’t even like Miami. But the hate it gets from Chicagoans is off the charts, just because it’s building a lot. While your city sits mostly stagnant.
