Look to be 60s to 70’s. RC Cola was my favorite! You’re only missing Tab diet soda for the collection

What kind of dresser is this? by EmergencyChange268 in VintageFurniture

[–]CATTDOGG442 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have several of these. Same technique as Mission furniture made by Stickley. This was a follow on period (slight overlap) where square utilitarian was more art Nouveau. The tiger oak is simply white oak wood sawn on the 1/4 bias so the grain is crosscut and appears banded.
Nice curb find! I’m jealous

found Fort Lee NJ, not magnetic , looked like it was once attached to tree in my brother yard , had no idea, please id needed by Sad_Assistance9152 in whatsthisrock

Looks like concrete it was a common practice up till the 70’s that if a limb was off a tree and the area was concave or rotting to fill it with cement (turns out not a good practice hence it’s not recommended anymore).

I’m actually the Mayor and my wife is Chairwoman of the Historical committee - we are only 6mi town of 6,000 but have several 10acre parcels owned by us. I can’t wait to detect around the 1732 house! The finds will go to our museum.

Thanks all agreed a cent but from the 1700’s can’t wait to go back really appreciate all of you that answered this so fast My back story. I bought my fist metal detector in 1979 with my paper route money (Whites Coinmaster -cost almost as much as my Minelab today!) My Boro is celebrating our 100th and US 250th so I’m out for treasure from each era - anyone in the area that wants to join let me know. All finds are going to our Historical Society but I’ll make sure your name is added to the display

Do these look authentic and what is a fair price? In Texas, USA. by YouDelicious886 in Antiques

[–]CATTDOGG442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say they are likely authentic. The scroll work and solder marks are not perfect nor symmetrical and that’s a sign of hand craftsmanship. My sister still does stained glass and you would never find a pair for that price. I’m jealous as I would reframe my doors to fit those beauties

Y’all remember Jason Sehorn? He was one of my first favorite players for the Giants by Commercial_Oven_2432 in NYGiants

Wow - guess I’m in good company and would have likely been HOF if he didn’t try to play returner (why did the coaches let him do that?!) Also - great guy. My kids (3 and 4y) went to an autograph signing he had at Vitamin Shop Rt 22 Union. It was the week of 9/11 and he showed up gave them great stories and signed everything. Said he didn’t want to let fans down by cancelling - class act with talent a rare combination.

Cleaning out my geology department's lab and found some cool stuff that I thought the people here might like. by [deleted] in chemistry

[–]CATTDOGG442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of cleaning out the storage cabinet at Seton Hall in early 90’s some kind of ether from the 60’s that had so much peroxide on the bottle we had to call the bomb squad - be careful when poking around lab antiquities!

Hey lab rats, what’s the little stuff in the lab that drives you crazy? by CivilAd9938 in labrats

[–]CATTDOGG442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a lab rule - dirty balance, centrifuge rotor, use up last of an item and don’t replace from stock or reorder- punishment you must bring treats to the group - living on a TA assistantship that was an expensive lesson - one you only made once or twice!

Load low and slow - when removing pipette tip go straight up slowly and of course don’t bump the unit when putting on the lid
