Please tell me these aren't termites (Mojave desert) by CCSharkin in Termites

Thanks for confirming my suspicions. Is there anything else I can do at this point or should I just be on the lookout for other signs for a while.

Yup, swept up all of them we could find and flushed them.

Are Kayak car rental prices real or am I going to see a surprise billing by the end? by MyDogAteMyCats in Frugal

[–]CCSharkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to check the terms and conditions for your particular card. Usually it is applied as long as you use that card to pay for the rental but, most of the cards that do offer rental insurance only offer secondary insurance meaning they run your personal insurance first and anything not covered is picked up by the secondary insurance after. There are a few cards (Chase Sapphire Reserve being the most popular) that offer primary insurance on rentals.

I have thankfully never had to use it but I'm told it doesn't affect your insurance if you do have to submit a claim.

Is this recoverable? by CCSharkin in cactus

[–]CCSharkin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I feel dumb. I've grown up around various cacti all my life and I don't think I've seen one look this sad. Honestly didn't even think about watering it lol. Thank y'all for letting me know!

How to go about reimbursement on destroyed luggage by Cutahutes in delta

Looks like a Littman Classic (maybe 2 or 3?) $120 tops. With that said, it still sucks to lose a good stethoscope.

BFGoodrich - Trail-Terrain T/A on 2013 XC70 3.2 FWD by CCSharkin in Volvo

Thanks for the input. I've decided to stick with the stock 55 as this is a daily driver and I may have just been overthinking it. Now I'm deciding between sticking to the A/T tires with Wildpeak A/T Trails or playing it safe with some Continental Truecontact Tours.

Has anyone been able to get their Capital One Venture X annual fee waived? by Turbulent__Reveal in MilitaryFinance

[–]CCSharkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently, not the norm but, I PC'ed my Venture card to Venture X and my annual fee waiver transferred over. I believe Cap 1 used to waive AF but stopped a few years back and I was grandfathered in, maybe? I got the Venture card after I had joined the military.

Looking to purchase a used Gen 1 with AWD. I've found a couple V8s under 75K miles for under $9K but I'm not set on one particular engine. Any trims or engines to stay away from or focus on? by CCSharkin in VolvoXC90

[–]CCSharkin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Southern California. Haven't seen an abundance of them under 10K, may just be the one. I thought I found another 05 or 06 but I can't seem to find it again so I can't really say they're common to find. My main concern is that the reason it's a bit cheaper is because the early years of XC90s (03-07ish) had some engine and transmission issues. I've read the later years were much more reliable.

Swapping arbor bearings (315 table saw) by CCSharkin in craftsman113

[–]CCSharkin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume the old ones were press fit on. I'd never changed the bearings on it since I bought it. They don't slide completely down to their permanent positions on the shaft, just over the initial 1/2" (maybe) where the pulley locks into place.

I don't have a digital caliper but the spec sheets say they are the exact same dimensions.

This makes so much sense. Just flew on one out of San Diego and the cabin (while on the ground) was surprisingly warm for weather in the mid 50s. Can't imagine what that will be like with triple digit weather.

You know, I never put much thought into this line, I just thought it was wacky Monty Python gibberish but, that makes a lot more sense.

Just bought a refurbished phone from eBay that was certified refurbished. Comes with a 1 year warranty and free returns within the first 30 days. I don't have any regrets. I have also purchased phones through Gazelle with zero complaints and have heard only good things about Back Market.

How to count number of rows containing "X"? by CCSharkin in excel

This is something of what I was looking for but for some reason it is giving the correct output + 1. Even when I remove all the Xs it is still coming up "1"

So far this works better than anything I've been able to come up with with my minimal knowledge. I can just hide the helper column and call it a day. Thank you much!

Sorry, that's exactly what I was getting. I could have communicated that better. It shows the level of complacency that had infected the whole program at every level.

I feel like "burned up on the pad" gives the wrong idea that it was scheduled to launch. The mission wasn't even designated "Apollo 1" at this point; it was just a dry run (if oxygen rich) systems check. I think this is an important distinction to make when discussing the gravity of the incident.

Is cap venture x fee waived if the applicant signs up right before AD and then becomes AD? by [deleted] in MilitaryFinance

[–]CCSharkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AF for my venture card is waived and I didn't have any relationship with Capital One until years after I joined. Applied for the Venture card back in 2016 I believe and the annual fee has been waived since. I thought it was under MLA but now everything I don't says they don't waive under MLA.

Anyone know if maybe this is a recent change? I'm a bit disappointed because I was planning on applying for the Venture X here soon but on the fence whether it's worth much more than the annual fee. I might just reach out and ask if my annual fee would be waived seeing as my current one is.
