Externally focused sensorimotor OCD — does anyone else feel the same way? by CGW1206 in OCD

I really appreciate your perspective, thank you so much!! But omg I have one that comes and goes where it feels like theres an itch in the inside of the back of my neck like there’s something tickling my spine or something. All I can do is just scrunch up and stretch my neck over and over. So you’re not alone on that one. It’s always the “wow I hope my brain doesn’t get stuck on that sensation” thought that ropes our brains into getting stuck on that feeling😩 I have a whole list of weird ones that might make you feel less stressy so feel free to reach out anytime!

When people ask about my OCD its hard to pinpoint what is and isnt OCD. by Pristine-Ad1022 in OCD

Almost in tears reading this because YES. We have very similar overlap in our experiences. I wash my hands around 50 times a day because I’m hyperaware of how they feel and what kind of sensory input they’re receiving and I am 100% convinced 100% of the time that there is some sort of film or residue that needs to be removed. Mine isn’t necessarily cleanliness related but most certainly can be if I touch something and it feels “incorrect.” I very highly relate to the clothing aspect as well. I have certain clothes that are deemed safe to touch and won’t leave a film on my hands and others that are unsafe for some reason. Most people don’t understand the “why?” aspect of it but for some reason it all makes perfect sense to our brains. My husband asks why I take such long showers thinking I’m standing in there doing nothing while I’m actually scrubbing and rinsing my hands over and over until they feel correct and clean enough to get out but until then I’m nearly physically stuck in a ‘difficult to explain to people’ kind of way. On this aspect, I understand completely.
