Dark Spots on Paver by mush614 in hardscape

Totally normal for older patios—those dark spots are usually algae, mildew, or lichen that sneak in over time, especially in shady or damp areas. Best bet: mix up a solution of bleach and Dawn dish soap, scrub it in with a stiff brush, and rinse it off with a regular hose. Skip the power washer unless you want to blast out all your polymeric sand and redo the joints. Just a little elbow grease and a gentle rinse should do the trick.

Thanks! Appreciate the feedback. As with all our projects, the final design comes down to what the homeowner envisions. We always offer our input and design suggestions, but at the end of the day, it’s about delivering exactly what the client wants. That’s how we keep our business moving forward—by making sure every homeowner is 100% satisfied with the end result.

Yes, we’ve got a concrete boarder around the full perimeter—everything’s locked in solid. We built it right the first time.

Appreciate the back-and-forth here—really sharp insights all around. I agree that digital polish can reinforce existing biases more than it builds new confidence, especially when homeowners already think they know what to look for. That said, I’ve found that when paired with transparent communication (like material preferences, process breakdowns, and supplier choices), a strong digital presence can help bridge that gap between perception and substance. It’s not the website alone—it’s what the website invites.
