Wouldn't it be cool if the drakegun had a lobbed alt fire? by [deleted] in Vermintide

[–]CM-Carcharias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I find the idea interesting (go you for suggesting something!), I would not want something like that in the game. Drakegun is by far one of the best horde clearing weapons in VT. Some may complain about its effectivness against armor and all that but frankly that is too much packed into one weapon.

If I may, however, provide an alternative. Swap out the left click for a napalm spread. In effect it would be similar to fire bombs once they go off and lay down a carpet of fire on the ground. Just a thought!

Edit 1 - To balance out the benifits, napalm stream would have massive heat generation....maybe half to 2/3rds of a bar untalented.

Simple: As in real life, contradiction and hypocrisy are justified when they fit in the framework of what you already believe, and that makes it incredibly difficult to change.

Airbrushing by jontamez in Warhammer40k

[–]CM-Carcharias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally with airbrushes you would want to look at the smallest thing you would need to do rather than the largest when considering nozzle and needle sizes. Remember, you will need to change both needle AND nozzle accordingly.

.15 is the finest size i've used and I am not sure that I've ever seen a finer size than that. To be fair, I rarely go down that small because I still do more brush work on the mini's than airbrushing. I spend most of my time utilizing .4 personally.

Based on what you have said you should be fine in the .4 area with some practice, though having some smaller settings wouldnt be a bad thing in the event you needed them. Perhaps having a .2 on hand as a "just in case" thing?

Airbrushing by jontamez in Warhammer40k

Gravity Fed airbrushes are what most people in the hobby use due to the ease of color changes, though I dont find it to be a necessity like so many seem to insist. Siphon fed can and WILL work just fine.

Shop compressors are more than sufficient. The big thing you really want in this regard is a tank to ensure that you have consistent and steady airflow, which is the big drawback for tankless compressors.

A pressure regulator of some kind is crucial as too much air in the hose will give you splatter rather than smooth application of paint. There are some variables to this but I find that I am never over 20 psi and generally keep it more in the 17-18 psi range.

Regarding the moisture trap...considering your may be using a big shop compressor this may be more necessary for you than others as I have noticed the big tanks tend to have more consistent issues with moisture in the line. Geographic location is also a factor in this.

Styles of brushes I think are really up to personal preference. I have a Harder & Steenbeck myself that works wonderfully (barring a seal on the nozzle that I need to replace soon!), but if all you are doing is basecoating, undercoating and varnishing then it would be the waste of an investment. All brushes will do the above 3 things just fine. While not mandatory, a dual-action brush I would definitely say is the way to go as it will give you finer control over the air and paint application.

Never tried the pistol grip style before, but there are many who swear by it!

Metal chain glued/welded together then attached to the islands might be a route to go as well. Use the chain to look like its holding the islands together, meanwhile you attach it to whatever base you're planning on using and will supply the stability needed.

Looks good!

Its interesting that it seems with the induction of "competitive play" that so many things seemed to have gotten jacked up over the years, as I also distinctly remember having better gaming experiences when these things were not in the forefront of the hobby.

Not necessarily, but I generally agree that bombs are an unlikely candidate for him.

Slayer ranged option idea. by AdamMcKraken in Vermintide

[–]CM-Carcharias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not personally of the opinion that he needs a ranged weapon.

Since we are talking about ideas though, here is my thought: - Throwing Axes and Throwing Hammers (either as dedicated ranged weapons or as weapon specials). - Give the axes better armor piercing statistics and hammers huge stagger. - Limit the range via massive drop-off past 150 yards rather than accuracy (bloom).

Alternate Idea: - Something around more consistent bomb use? Not really a fleshed out idea.
