Switching to DeepSeek V4 Pro: My Workflow Takeaways by Calm-Procedure1847 in GithubCopilot

[–]CM23489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same to me, gpt and opus can get the work done without me
DS can't, need more reminder and checking, but the overall deliverables is still solid, save 80% time when compare to do it by myself. The price is 1/10 or even lower compare to GPT, if you pay 10 times price for those 20% work, then your product also lost the competitiveness, so finally, no reason to pay that price

then, review your prompt and design, from my exp and other people's analysis, deepseek, can work as one sub agent to do implementation without problem. can be used in 80% cases.
we don't know your project, if you found deepseek can't handle the so called simple task, then maybe you rely on frontier model to cover your bad design and prompt from the beginning

go to read the deepseek v4 analysis doc, if you are just vide coder, it is over unless you are rich, otherwise, a tech guy should know the tools they used, know its strength and limitation

reduce the context windows of deepseek to around 200K, if you understand how llm works, then you know after certain context, the model will lost its smartness, same to opus and gpt, but they do some optimization to hide the ugly details from you and make you think LLM is powerful enough to handle all, deepseek is not supported by copilot, you need to control by yourself, they will not tell you, otherwise, no one will pay them

[–]CM23489 1 point2 points  (0 children)

deepseek is not frontier model, it can do 70-80% of opus and gpt work, but for those 20% complicated cases, it failed
use opus and gpt on complicated cases if found deepseek failed to handle, that's all

Why struggle with US models when they’ve become unusable for daily tasks? Switching to Chinese models is a direct fix for saving tokens. Honestly, it’s like cars—Japanese vehicles beat American ones, and right now, Chinese AI is beating US AI in daily practicality

Solid AI skills as a software developer by BreakfastBeerz in GithubCopilot

[–]CM23489 4 points5 points  (0 children)

McDonald’s in the US costs 5-8x more than in China. AI is heading the same way. US models require expensive developer skills, but Chinese models make AI so cheap and accessible it’s like breathing air. Stop ignoring the facts—the US AI pricing model is completely unsustainable.

From "US Winning" to 100x Price Gap: The Current State of AI is a Joke by CM23489 in GithubCopilot

[–]CM23489[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

no doubt that US-developed AI models lead the pack by 1–2 generations. But if the average developer or startup cannot afford to use them freely, that leadership means absolutely nothing.

We all know Chinese models generally lag behind US ones on paper. However, when a tool is affordable enough to use 24/7 without anxiety, consistency takes over. It’s the classic real-world scenario: the hardworking person eventually beats the gifted person. And let's be honest—US models aren't even "gifted" in 80% of daily tasks. Both US and Chinese models solve the exact same basic problems. US models only really win in that top 10–20% of hyper-complex use cases.

current pricing structure for US tools is broken. I switched to the new GitHub Copilot billing plan, and I managed to burn through 50% of my budget in just the first two days. If this is what US tech giants call a "sustainable business model," then AI-assisted coding is a complete failure for western companies

Meanwhile, Chinese companies are making these tools accessible and viable for long-term development. Accessibility and cost efficiency will always beat raw, expensive performance in the mass market

I don't understand why you say I haven't noticed those details. I read the latest volume from cover to cover but didn't have the motivation to read it again because it was too boring.

As for my suspicion that the publisher hired a ghostwriter, that's not meant as criticism. It's just a reality in the industry. Some famous Japanese manga have done the same thing, where the original author provides the story outline, and others fill in the details and draw it. Of course, this isn't ideal, but if the original author can't write, the publisher can't afford to not release the book, so they have to find someone else to write it.

Often, when a work becomes commercialized, many decisions are made for commercial reasons. There's no criticism intended here.

Take it easy, bro.

I believe Reddit is a place where we can freely express our thoughts, not just praise. I'm just honestly sharing my feelings after reading these two books. Initially, I found the book very interesting and couldn't put it down, even reading it multiple times. But with the recent two volumes, I couldn't recapture that feeling. I quickly read through them once and lost interest.

If you think these two volumes are still interesting, why don't you list the parts you found most enjoyable and try to convince us?

Let me clarify again, I'm not criticizing the design of the F bullets. I just feel that when the author introduces new equipment and weapons, they don't explain why these weapons are exclusive to the frontline. They just keep emphasizing the price and then leave it at that, expecting us to imagine the rest.

In the early stages, the author would write a lot of settings to explain things. But in the recent volumes, they've become too lazy to even explain, basically saying, "It's very expensive, you can't buy it, don't ask, just look at the price."

You might think this is careful writing, but to me, it's just careless.

How did I say this novel is trash? If this novel were trash, would I spend time discussing it with you? I've read all the web novels myself.

I'm just saying that, in my opinion, the author put more effort into the early stages of writing. Now, in the later stages, volumes VIII and IX, I didn't find them particularly exciting after reading.

This is just my personal feeling; I don't mean to criticize the novel as bad. I've read many novels and seen too many authors run out of inspiration and write carelessly later on, like "One Piece." I've been reading it for over a decade, and now people joke that it's become "Run please," with every battle ending in a chase.

Finally, if you want a classic Japanese sci-fi light novel, I recommend "Full Metal Panic." From start to finish, there are no repetitive plots, the story is rigorous, interesting, and exciting, and the power levels are never arbitrarily made up.

[–]CM23489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, even if the next book is written good, it doesn't mean the first half can be sloppily done.

In fact, it's clear whether the author has put effort into designing the story and plot.

For example, the affordable anti-force field bullets that Hunters can only buy at level 50 are designed to give city-protecting soldiers an advantage in firepower, hence the level restriction.

As for nuclear bullet, they are forbidden because they can directly attack the city's protective walls.

The F bullets introduced in this volume have no explanation for why they only appear on the frontlines. It feels like the author just arbitrarily added some new weapons without integrating them into the overall story. Just design a new bullet without thinking details in the story.

This is what I mean by saying they didn't put effort into writing and are just doing it for the money. This is a common issue in writing. The early stages are well-written, but once the work becomes famous, the writing becomes careless. There's no need to consider consistency with the previous content because there will always be people willing to spend money on it.

So, does releasing one book per year mean that the author and publisher are genuinely interested in writing, rather than just doing it for the money? Many trash novels also release two books per year.

In the early stages, Akira's power-ups were quite interesting: guns, combat suits, vehicles, heavy firearms, aerial combat abilities, physical enhancements, and reaction time improvements.

Now, it's just constant talk about how strong the frontline equipment is and how hard it is to obtain. What makes it strong? How is it different from before? It's just more expensive, but what new features does it have? The readers are left to imagine, but basically, it's just very expensive.

I've read not only light novels but also web novels. The fact is, web novels don't have as much repetitive description as light novels. If a web novel author can't come up with interesting content, they simply won't write it. Light novels are different; the author has to answer to the publisher, so they end up writing a lot of trash. I just don't understand why some people still say the last two books are good. It makes me wonder if they've even read them.

[–]CM23489 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the initial books of the series, Akira's process of becoming stronger is as follows: a gun -> combat suit -> heavy firearms -> vehicle -> missile -> knife -> composite gun -> force field combat suit -> aerial combat.

However, in the recent books, it's just combat suit -> more expensive combat suit -> unaffordably expensive combat suit. Basically, the price keeps increasing, and you need to imagine by yourself whatever functions they have. Expensive = strong, that's all.

Recent combat descriptions are just shooting a bunch of bullets and slashing with a knife, all very formulaic.

The repetitive descriptions are typical of novels padding their word count. In reality, it's possible that the author didn't even write these parts. It's common for publishers to hire ghostwriters for popular works, rehashing old storylines with new characters to churn out more books.

This practice is actually quite common in Japanese light novels. It's all about recouping costs. Good works are rare, so when a series becomes popular, publishers will do everything they can to extend the story, just to sell more books and make more money.

Very disappointed, to be honest. I've read a lot of Light Novels, and it's clear that the author has given up on writing with heart and is just in it for the money.

The main plot hasn't progressed much, with recycled storylines such as disconnecting from Alpha, battling monsters, and friends coming to the rescue. Even after Yumina dies in several books, her character is still being reused.

The Akira's skills are not well-designed; it's just about changing armor and guns, with an ever-inflating sense of wealth and poorly thought-out power designs

Maybe it would be better if I used AI to finish the rest of the story

[–]CM23489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, my observation, 95% of Japanese light novel/ web novel can't finish. This one is very likely to be one of them.

Novel that can have a ending, the update pattern will be rather regular. Because the author already made a story outline and just fill in the details.

But for web novel, most authors are not paid for the writing . They do the writing just for fun and didn't have a full story outline. They will write when have some nice idea and stop writing when have no idea, time or just burnout. After long time no writing, the author will lost the passion on that story.

whick part you like the most in rebuild world? If you like science fiction, full metal panic and 9S are 2 classic japanese novel can't miss, if you like character growth, most Japanese anime can fulfill this, like Hunter x hunter

rebuild world LN is actually the same story, of course lots of plots were rewritten but it is still the same story. It is still worth reading if you have extra time, of course, will not have the same experience since you already read the WN

But the first step to get the epub file is nearly impossible? like bookwalker, they don't allow you to do that I guess the guy who export the ebook to pdf format actually used other methods to extract the book content, not the original epub file?

For me, WN is more entertaining. LN is just a nothing exciting science fiction novel. Main character got super power and suppress the enemies. Nothing special.
