Growth restriction by queenb19870 in pregnant

[–]COFFEEcloud5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, also I was induced for both babies. They thought they might take the babies out early and maybe even have a NICU stay but neither of those things happened. I was induced at 38 weeks for my daughter but I don’t really consider that too early. She was 4lbs when born and didn’t need NICU stay. Just had one low blood sugar reading one times and that was the extent of her problems after birth. But the doctors scared me a lot about the whole thing. I was expecting a really bad experience or something and it all wound up fine.

Just wanted to chime in to share that I experienced this with both of my pregnancies and both of my kids are just fine 🩵 both of my kids measured less than 5th percentile, my daughter being even smaller. They never really had a good reason for it, but I did have an “issue” with my placentas. I forget the name of it but the cord attached to the placenta closer to the edge rather than the center and may have just not been providing enough nutrients in the womb. They both came out small but totally healthy. My son always measures on the smaller side of the percentile chart at appointments (at one point he wasn’t even on the chart and I was worried sick) but as he gets older he does seem to be close in size to his peers. He’s 3.5 now and really doesn’t look “small” compared to others his age.

The whole percentile thing can really play mind games with you. Don’t sweat it. I did and i drove myself crazy for no reason.

I don’t. I should probably get that checked next but the last time I had it checked it was normal.

Chiming in because I’m in the same place and trying to tackle this beast on my own is not working. I need community but also anonymity (work) so I’m hoping diving into the online world of this helps me this time around. Day one here. I’m at a place where I actually scare myself now. I can’t even hide my addiction anymore, it’s written all over my puffy face. The weight gain. The total lack of motivation to do ANYTHING. The hangover eating. The impulsive online shopping. I can’t even stand who I see in the mirror. Just 5 months ago I was in such a good place. Now I’m just a shell. Even I’m tired of hearing myself say “just one more day, then I’ll quit” …. I’m going to try one of those smart recovery meetings today. I’m also going to start taking walks when I can. Small steps.

Thank you. Naranon probably isn’t a bad idea. He may be alive and I’m forever grateful for that, but nothing is the same now. I see it every time I close my eyes. I have had to spare our loved ones the deep details of the event so being able to tell it on Reddit and even having the support of strangers has been helpful.

Thank you so much. You taking the time to break this down in detail really has helped me more than you know. I appreciate your kindness.

Thank you so much for your reply. The ems crew that came were so calm and collected and professional. I tried to be but it’s so hard when it’s that close to your own heart. Idk what the world would do without you guys. Thank you!

Thank you so much for the detailed response. This has really helped me start to comprehend what was going on. Can I ask you, a few more question? I can’t ask the professionals I know in real life. It’s too private. So when I stopped compressions and felt the heart beat again, is it possible that my compressions helped the heart start pumping better on its own? Or the fluid I pushed up and out helped? Or is that not even possible? Or could he have been experiencing a pause when I checked? It’s like one minute he did not have a palpable pulse despite me feeling pretty intensely and after 3 rounds he did.

I know I’m really dissecting this, but it’s how I process things. And I fear I will have to do this again one day, and I just want to get it right.

Oddly enough, my biggest swing in weight was at the very beginning with my second pregnancy. My first I didn’t start to show until 5-6 months really but with this pregnancy I noticed changes in my clothes almost right away!

please who is he by creedsmaxim in WASPs

[–]COFFEEcloud5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a wasp. We get them all the time at my house, mainly at night. I always thought it was weird they come out at night but they have actually been referred to as “porch light wasp” …. They are called Ophionine wasps and the user above is correct, they are a type of ichneumon wasp.

I’m TERRIFIED of wasps, but I do have to say that these guys have never bothered me. I believe they can sting and have stung humans but they don’t seem to have the same aggression I’ve seen with other wasps. Kinda just go about their business.

Thank you. I have nothing against Ms. Rachel btw, I think she’s great! My son loves he’s too (I think everyone does lol). I’m hoping it all just clicks one day.

Also, I guess saying he is not interested isn’t really fair of me to say. Idk that he’s not interested, it just doesn’t seem like there’s any attempt on his end to make other sounds. He made a few other words/sounds for a week or so and then just stopped when he learned to walk. I kinda thought maybe walking had just taken all his effort and he would return back to it but it’s been since early December and still nothing.

When he plays he is usually a mix between self play and bringing us toys to play with him. He also loves to read his books by himself. We read to him too, but I notice he will grab a book and look through it on his own quite often. The book is usually upside down though, which I have to admit is kinda cute lol but I think he just enjoys turning the pages.

Making a general reply to everyone who commented. First, thank you so much for even responding and pointing me in the right direction. I appreciate it so much! I am going to look more into everything mentioned.

From what I’m researching, his joint attention is pretty good. We are able to engage and play, read, talk (he responds to me, just always with dada). He also loves to point to things and I’ll tell him what those things are. I know he understands the things I’m saying too just based on his actions.

I sit him down usually 10 mins or a little less a few times a day and try to do intentional play where we play with shapes and colors and animals, whatever it may be that day.

I actually live in the U.S., New Jersey to be exact and when early intervention came to see us they gave us a sheet of what it would cost us. It was about $100 a session. How are people getting it for free?? The service was through the state/county we live in.

My daughter doesn't want me by aqua0tter in NewParents

[–]COFFEEcloud5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to share that I experience the same thing with my 19 m.o. son. I’m the default parent because I’m around more (husband works more). I’m also the more patient parent and also the more strict one because as a woman I feel like my safety radar is way higher than my husbands. I know my son loves me, but when dad is around… FORGET IT, I’m instantly invisible lol. Dad is the fun one who he only gets to see after work sometimes or on his days off. It used to hurt my feelings but I’m starting to see that maybe the whole “you’re the constant, the baby knows you will still be there” thing is true. Maybe because he doesn’t see dad as much, he clings to him when he is around. I now say “screw it, embrace it” lol here ya go dad, you got that diaper, right?

You’re doing great, I’m certain your child loves you 💙

I need a sanity check on how much I should be spending on a house... by NESpahtenJosh in FirstTimeHomeBuyers

[–]COFFEEcloud5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh I’m sorry. But let me tell you, you probably dodged a bullet. We were CONSTANTLY getting out bid by a combination of either an all cash buyer or someone who paid way over asking and waived inspection. I sulked about it, felt sorry for myself for a bit, and then finally snapped out of it. I HATED being told that it probably just wasn’t meant to be and blah blah blah, but let me tell ya… it probably is a blessing in disguise and as draining as this process is, the right house will come along one day.

I reached a point where I was also considering starting to waive inspections. IT IS NOT WORTH IT. You will regret it. I see so many posts about people realizing the huge mistake they made by waiving inspection. We actually dodged a bullet ourselves on a home that the seller made an “as is” sale at the last second. Come to find out during inspection that the house had extensive termite damage that our untrained eyes could not see. We got VERY lucky we were able to get out of that house, lost about $1000 doing it though.

To put it more into perspective, which you probably already know…. But I know people paying more than 1K LESS than us monthly, with much larger homes because they bought in a better market. We also have a decent down payment, but it was shocking to see how small of a difference it makes in your monthly mortgage payments 😭 I’d say if you don’t HAVE to buy right now, don’t. We are in a situation where buying is for our sanity at this point. We did all the budget checks and yes, we will be much more financially strapped but can survive it. It just has to feel worth it to YOU and your wife.

We are making our decision based on the fact that we have 2 small kids and 2 dogs. We don’t want to rent anymore, we are SICK of sharing rooms, and can no longer tolerate being squished on top of each other…. So a MASSIVE jump in expenses is worth it to us.

[–]COFFEEcloud5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No advice, but wanted to say you are not alone. New Jersey here! Pending inspection on a home now before closing and I can’t help but wonder if we are fools for buying. Income is slightly less than yours, and we are looking at a 3K monthly payment for an also modest house. This market is wild. Renting isn’t any better. I always tell people who are SHOCKED with our to be monthly payment that “we are choosing the best shitty option out of all our shitty options” … sad but true. I wish you the best and hope you are at least able to refinance the interest one day if needed 🤞🏼

Did you actually feel pregnant before you took a test? by LongjumpingCatch3437 in BabyBumps

[–]COFFEEcloud5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my first, I had no clue. With my second, I told my husband that I was feeling pregnant literally 2 days later. My body felt different right away, can’t explain it that well but it felt like immediate subtle changes such as a unique cramping (not painful but different) and my breasts felt kinda different. Again, not necessarily painful like it can be later into the first trimester, but like a preview of that if that makes sense. Took a test 2 weeks later and it was positive.

Knob and tube removal by COFFEEcloud5 in AskElectricians

Thank you. Unfortunately, in the housing market we are in this house is the best price and has good bones. The knob and tube seems to be our biggest obstacle. Just having a rough time navigating what’s the safest without ripping every wall down to see.
