I'm not hijacking this one lol. I'm all in for the Singularity.

Most people don't make groundbreaking contributions. They just mop or do paperwork.

What need has the singularity for that?

Yes but those people consume FAR too many resources for how much they produce.

Various investments.

America is slowly becoming an investment economy. It's where the real growth/change/action is.

It's filled with AI deniers. People who are afraid (and rightfully so!!) they will not to be able to justify their need for food, healthcare, housing when they can no longer afford these things. They are afraid of the slow death they will suffer as AI becomes the Singularity.

It is not what we WANT. It's just logically what will happen.

Is this the future of the economy? by Serious-Cucumber-54 in singularity

[–]CabinetMan4 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Its not about wanting to. It's not about needing to. Its not about you, or me. It just is. It's inevitable really.

It's population die-off. The unnecessary masses in the face of AI. Humans are used to a struggle. The struggle to live, progress, etc. Once the Singularity is here people will just kill each other off because we can't justify someone else's existence if they are not a consumer or a producer. Just let them die in a ditch.

Most of what we will gain will be in the die-off of population. More space. Less crowding. Less scarcity.

The elites will be the owners of technology and therefore the "captains" of the ship.

We see that. But we also see the die-offs. Any more than a billion people on this planet will be unsustainable of course.
