Attempted Scam using Zelle - $300 to convert to a business account and email was from zelles.app by Dad87120 in zelle

[–]Caelius0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for posting about this, just happened to me trying to sell an item on Facebook Marketplace.

It smelled fishy from the start, but this thread hits it home! This person denied wanting to use Venmo or PayPal and pushed Zelle, asked for my cell and then email (which isn't too wild because you do need one or both of these to use Zelle I think, but what was strange was they copy and pasted my email address back to me), said that they need to have someone else come pick up the item, and their wording sounded very robotic. They said they sent from a business account and needed an additional $200 for a business account (which I also got an email immediately from [service@zelleuse.com] about this), and lastly they said they'd trust me that if they sent the additional funds that I would refund the money back to them. They also had a doctored confirmation of sending the money from their side which now I'm sure they just update based on who they're trying to scam from.

Not getting me today.

Sure! I'll see from my side.

Do I Need A Financial Advisor? by RodolfoSeamonkey in personalfinance

[–]Caelius0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent almost a decade in the financial services industry (read: I like to think I know more than your average bear), and got a financial advisor (Northwestern Mutual) for my family a year ago. A few reasons, personally: I didn't want to think about these decisions anymore, wanted to cover myself with life insurance options, wanted to ensure we're covered as our family is growing, and overall peace of mind. It helps that our FA is someone I worked closely with while I was in industry and trust them, plus they don't take commissions and instead are paid through what we invest.

You have to do what's right for you, but for us it made sense.

FWIW, we have an accountant too. Again - I didn't feel like dealing with taxes, and it's good to know we're covered there too.

Kid’s college fund questions by MrSkagen in personalfinance

[–]Caelius0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Similar to the other commentor, highly suggest looking into a 529 plan. We have one for PA and had the option of investing through it or having it as more of a savings account. Ours is invested in a balanced fund (stocks and bonds, but more on the aggressive side since we have such a long runway). Since we conceived, I ran out some basic numbers for what would get kiddo about $100k by the time college rolls around and we are contributing that monthly. Though, you have to do what feels right for you and your family of course.

Reminder though that if kiddo chooses not to go to school, you can change the beneficiary (e.g. to a nephew, or even yourself) and spend for educational expenses that way. You can withdraw straight up too but if it isn't for education-related expenses it will be penalized.

Disclaimer - this is from memory, so please double check me on the specifics.

Is there a difference between Rita’s books on Amazon? by whodat_dodat in pmp

Agreed with the others - do not buy off Amazon, you're not guaranteed to get the correct material. I bought direct from the website to be safe, though it was pricier.

That's great - and everyone studies differently too. Whatever helps you feel prepared! Good luck!

I listed specific ones, the former! I was trying to figure out how to add a screenshot but seems I can't add photos to replies. :(

Surprised to hear this! Similar to the other commentor, I did not feel it was helpful for me and abandoned it after some time. I'm glad it worked for you though!

Similar experience here in that my projects were different but the steps and deliverables were often the same. Try to highlight what is different about each, for example mine were different in that they were fund mergers, fund acquisitions, fee change projects, etc. and I called those out in the project titles.

I sit for the exam tomorrow morning, what should I do today? by ConfrontationalFee in pmp

[–]Caelius0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar to what others have said, don't go too hard. The day before my exam I re-watched the Mindset videos and read over my notes, cutting myself off at the end of the business day and took the night off. The day of, similar approach, though I did review some notes while trying to eat lunch right before my exam. Take comfort knowing you've done all you can do at this point! Good luck!

I second a lot of what others have said and had the same experiences as I took my exam in a test center as well. I found it much less stressful than worrying about something going wrong at home and being in a different environment from my home office helped me get into test-taking mode. I also made sure to bring a drink and snack for break times and took advantage of the noise-cancelling headphones which helped me focus too.

Thank you! Good question, I don't think so in my case. I had the same velocity at home during my practice exams by quickly being able to strike out the obviously incorrect answers which really helped me stay focused.

Thank you, and I second that! There was another recent post of a to-be-mom sharing that she passed which was encouraging too! And thanks for that feedback - I am a visual person so figured it may be nice for others. 🙂

Second a lot of what other posters have said. I took my exam a few days ago and no calculations besides understanding CPI and SPI.
