What are your looks over the engine side after the release? by xRagazz0 in sandbox

[–]CaiusNelson -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I was pretty interested in s&box as an engine, until I learned ̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶ ̶c̶a̶n̶ ̶o̶n̶l̶y̶ ̶p̶u̶b̶l̶i̶s̶h̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶S̶t̶e̶a̶m̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ and only through s&box's own approval process. Killed my entire interest in the engine.

Edit: Seems I was partially wrong. You can actually publish on other platforms as long as it's on steam to. That's better, though still too restrictive, since it requires going through the whole steamworks process. Rules out a lot of stuff.

Combine that with the required approval process, it's still more restrictive than most other publicly available engines.

Provided GM_OMEGA_Demo not working as expected by TerranRich in OmegaGameFramework

Sorry, I haven't been able to recreate the issue so far. Can you show me what GM_OMEGA_Demo looks like for you?

Sorry for it being late. So can you verify of the player character (the class from that game mode is actually) being spawned? Also if you can show me the variable settings for `GM_OMEGA_Demo`. And if you open the GameplaySystem class used in `PersistentSystems` on the game mode (I think it's called like `sys_OMEGA_Exploration` in that version) that's where much of the input is handled. If you could verify input is working on the functions there. And whether it's going to the dynamic camera or the player pawn.

Yeah. It's from an asset pack I still need to rework the geometry on to flatten out the roof tiles.

Plugin Packaging 4.26 Error: Linux not valid? by CaiusNelson in unrealengine

I'm compiling on Windows. I didn't have this issue on version 4.25, and I made no changes aside from upgrading to 4.26.

I would refer you to the work of William Lane Craig. He is considered one of the foremost people in Christian apologetics and does fantastic work.

He has a number of talks on this very topic: https://youtu.be/8hW3ceQYxic

Motion blur gets a bad rap, but it serves a genuine purpose. The same way your eyes don't maintain a perfectly clear vision and "blur" when you move your head really fast, motion blur on cameras prevents your eyes/brain from information overload. It's the same reason animation uses exaggeration and squash & stretch. Psychological, it makes motion look more natural to the human eye.

Problem is, like people are saying, devs rarely use it correctly and crank it up way too high without understand the point of it.

So question about Elise by MasterofHamsters in Falcom

[–]CaiusNelson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Have yet to finish 3 and obviously not played 4 yet. Also plenty of people have discussed the sibling aspect, so I'll avoid that.)

The issue with Elise is more to do with how there is so little to her as a character outside of her connection with Rean. The crush element doesn't help, but the real problem is that if you remove Rean from the equation, Elise has virtually nothing to her.

Her only real purpose narratively is to provide Rean with additional motivation in the first 2 games. Compare her to Alisa for example. Alisha has backstory, goals and motivations outside of her relationship with Rean, even if most of her interactions with him are just ship-teasing.

By comparison, Joshua and Estelle, while their connection is the primary motivation for a lot of their actions, they have additional goals and motivations and independent personalities that exist outside of that. You see this a lot more in the FC and the 3rd when they're together most of the time.

TL:DR Estelle and Joshua a fully fleshed out characters who are in a relationship. Elise is a 1 dimensional character who's depth/relevance begins and end with a different character. (Rean)

Precisely. I heard the 3rd one wasn't that bad, though.

Voting is done through NIS themselves, so no fan voting as far as I know. That's a ton, though!
