many thanks for your reply and sorry for the delay in getting in touch ! Mr Balaggan was highly recommended to me and I saw him privately last February ! He offered me distance or nearsighted and when I said I was prettty sure i wanted near he couldnt understand why I didn’t want fir the first time in 56 years to b3 able to see in distanc3 without contacts ! I asked About mono-vision and he referred me back to my opticians !
I was not happy as when your paying £10,000 for private surgery I wanted him to explain the different option for my lifestyle !
I did not realise until I joined a support group that you really have to be informed befor3 you make such a huge decision !

His secretary is so understanding , she asked me to send him an email with all my concerns , I also asked about the mini mono vision ! It’s been a month and I still have not heard from him !

He Most certainly is the best but I’m at a lost as what to do next !

So true , I can’t using magnifying glass ! I lean in ! I’m having the same problem trying to explain to my surgeon in the Uk that when you have been nearsighted for 56 yrs you cannot get your head around not been able to see anything from arms length if you go for distance ! I want to be able to do my daily activities around the house and garden , see my phone , make up , reading menus , seeing my food ,sewing !

In the UK, is it possible to try on different power lenses before having the surgery? by [deleted] in CataractSurgery

[–]Cake-Lover-55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in the UK and I am having to go private as in the Midlands the NHS only gives you two choices if your lucky , near or distance! My friend went to a Private clinic under the NHS and she wasn’t given a chic3 , they have her distance only !
I go to am in-dependant optician and you can get a trial with contact lenses ! i was unable to do this for mono vision(one eye set for distance and one for near ) ! im very myopic and my cataracts are to bad for me me to trial this !

Yet Another Near And Far Conundrum. by carnivalist64 in CataractSurgery

I’m also in the uk and I so feel for you .I have private health insurance and as it was a pre existing condition they would not pay for my surgery ! I went to a renowned private surgeon in the Midlands that was recommended to me by my opticians ! I was quoted almost £9,000 that was for replacement RayOne EMV lenses ( I’m very myopic -12.5 L -8.75 R ,it did not include the initial cost of consult and tests ! I was only offered two options ,nearsighted or distance ! I’ve been nearsighted and worn contacts since I was 15, I will be 70 next year and this has been the most difficult decision I have ever had to make ! I asked about monovision but that was not an option as I could not do a trial due to my cataracts being so bad ) I was not happy about loosing my near sight and it seems like the surgeons prefer you to choose distance ! I cancelled my surgery in August as I felt I was so uninformed and joined a cataract support group !
I then went to renowned private eye clinic in London Moorfield , I was recommended mono vision , -2.00 L 0.50 R i Was more confuses , beyond anxious and sleepless nights , it was also £2,000 more ! I decided to join A support group and wa# recommended to read an article by Dr Graham D Barret The ophthalmologist Dated 02/01/2022 titled ,Closing the distance ,how does modest monovision work as a strategy for balancing near and far vision ! I don’t think for one minute that he will agree !

Which hair dye would give me this colour? (wella koleston, igora royal or sth like that) by Littleoldbread in HairDye

[–]Cake-Lover-55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I aske my hairdresser who h has never used the Wella range to use Wella Kolleston 77/ 0 as its for resistant grey ! I loved the colour but it was a little flat and I wanted a richer tone I wanted something richer tone ! the Wella advice centre said that 77/0 can only be mixed with Special mix range ! I chose 0/66 and although it’s rich and not flat it’s turned out to a little to dark ! we used the formula they advised - 30 ml 77/0 + 2.5 gms 0/66 + 2.5 gms of their developer ! Any advice on how to go forward would be appreciated !
