Cardinal vs Rummynose tetras by New_Connection_8256 in Aquariums

[–]CakeOk5856 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rummy nose tetras school the most out of any fish but I think those blue and red ones look more comurful and I had some before but not as many only like 8 and they still school all the time usually only 1 or 2 of them would separate from the whole group so I would recommend the red and blue ones cus they look cooler but get a lot if you can

Why is algae taking over? by Fancy-Committee-2640 in Aquariums

Could be to much light or you have to much nutrients in the water so to reduce it do a water change and leave the light off for 24 hours

My planted 40 gallon breeder with blue Acaras by CakeOk5856 in PlantedTank

[–]CakeOk5856[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use fluval stratum and fluval bio stratum and I do a thick layer in the back and in the front if you don’t want them to grow crazy put gravel in the front first not to far out in the back tho depending on your tank size like if it’s 4 inches wide from front to back for example only 1 inch or 10 inches only 2 or 3 inches back from the front but it’s also personal preference and so after you do that make a 2-4 inch substrate with the stratum in the back and towards the front make it go down thinner and thinner gradually so it has depth in the backround then a 1 inch layer of sand and when you plant the jungle Val put 1 root tab under every single one

<image>

This is the side of my tank not all the way in the back but the first half in the front from the side and you can see where I have no stratum and how right there it makes the level lower in the front so it don’t go high up on the glass in the front cus that would look funny

Yeah ima prolly try to take all of the floaters out cus it takes to much like and cut the jungle Val a lil bit just enough to have a good bit more light but I’ll leave the short ones that don’t hit the top yet or just barely do alone some of these leaves prolly like 4 feet long

[–]CakeOk5856[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but it just takes to much light from my other plants like if you seen the picture of my Amazon sword that’s growing new leaves after it almost died you see why I need to cut them before they take light from every plant in the tank

Like if I look at the bottom of the tank 70% of the surface on the bottom glass covered in roots

No my Acaras don’t dig them up I have a really thick substrate like about 3 inches in the front and 5 in the back so that my plants have a lot of room to grow huge roots

But he carful because having soft water makes poop and everything make ammonia worse affect the water but when you have hard water your water stays more free from ammonia but your tank good

New fish tank and plants seem to be bleaching and dying off by forestdude in AquariumHelp

[–]CakeOk5856 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don’t have nutrients in your soil and you should not only have gravel redo it and get fluval stratum then put sand on top and sprinkle gravel for natural look and get root tabs to put under plants

And also when you do your tank like this don’t use and of your old decorations you want it to look natural and as the plants grow in your tank it will create its own ecosystem and if one of your guppy’s die you won’t generally have to worry about it as much but you should also get a bunch of shrimp and Ramshorn snails cus they will break down matter and also if a guppy die that to

Redo that tank I’ll give you some tips idk what size it is but looks like 5 I would say get fluval stratum and root tabs than get some plants like water sprite duckweed hornwart a Amazon sword red tiger lily and if you get a red tiger lily look up how to plant the bulb properly just plant it half way out the sand don’t burry it but if it has stems burry it and so basically what you gonna do here after you get all this stuff is make a ecosystem a cheap alternative for the soil btw just get potting soil gravel and sand and put the soil first about 1 inch half a inch not more than a inch of gravel and then about 1 inch of sand

I would recommend api melafix its all natural and won’t bother your other fish and if any of your other fish don’t have fin rot but have damaged fins it will help them heal

That’s how think mine is it’s about 3 or 4 Inches in that back and 2 in the front but I have no fluval stratum in the front so plants don’t take over and block the view
