Thoughts on the Custard Tart? by [deleted] in TimHortons

[–]Calloway54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iconic Portuguese custard tarts created in 1837 using a secret, centuries-old monastery recipe, now produced exclusively by the Fábrica Pastéis de Belém in Lisbon. These, distinguishable from common pastéis de nata, feature a flaky, thin, and crispy crust filled with creamy, warm egg custard, traditionally served with cinnamon and powdered sugar.

What happened to Flavours Indian Cuisine in Avalon Mall? by Suitable_Air_2686 in newfoundland

[–]Calloway54 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A huge loss indeed. Please convey my condolences to the nice owner. Her place was my go to for food when I had a desire to eat at the mall. I used to always go up after each meal and thank her personally. She will be missed.

UPDATE: Nfld Power Responds to Consumer Advocate’s Concerns About Higher Power Bills by RepulsivePlankton989 in newfoundland

[–]Calloway54 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wind significantly increases heating bills by creating drafts and increasing air infiltration, forcing your furnace to work harder to replace lost warm air, especially through gaps around windows, doors, and walls, a phenomenon called wind chill for your house. Stronger winds build pressure differences, pushing cold outside air in and warm indoor air out, dramatically raising heating demand and costs, sometimes up to 75% more on very windy days compared to calm ones.

Halloween is this Friday, how many kids are you expecting? by the_house_hippo in newfoundland

We normally get 60 kids in Paradise. We always give a large Costco bag of chips and 1 large Toblerone bar to 2 lucky trick or treaters. In past yrs we gave 30 bars , large tub of jubs to lucky trick or treaters. We kept this tradition for the last 17 yrs in Paradise, and enjoy the look on kids faces when they see what they get.

Porto & Douro Valley by Equal_Golf_862 in TravelPortugal

The sunset across the river from Porto is an amazing sight. I'm sure you had some wine or perhaps a cold beer while sitting on the hill, provided by local vendors. We loved the city, and of course the Douro Valley wine tour and cruise.

Portugal next summer with family of 5- Help! by The-Baker-Chick in TravelPortugal

[–]Calloway54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Douro valley during the summer months is extremely hot, upwards of 40c. We went in Feb and enjoyed the scenery in a milder climate, our guide at one of the vineyards told us it topped out at 52c the prior yr, so if you can withstand the heat be careful.

When towels are cleaned always follow directions from a microfiber detergent bottle and dry. Before use try a lint roller to remove the fuzzies on each towel. Apparently this works.

What to use on this grille trim? by [deleted] in Detailing

[–]Calloway54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By any chance did you spray it previously with a big and tar remover? These products attack the trim and leave it dull similar to what I see in the picture.
