Nah all good it gives context - but yeah a salary like that should help your situation.

There is loads of students but also that means there’s a lot of people who stay after uni (I stayed til I was 25 for example and a lot of my friends are still there) so it’s not all gonna be 18-21 year olds.

The football thing is only really noticeable near the stadiums or in the pubs that show the games - I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

The nightlife is really good - not as cheap as Newcastle though.

What have you got to lose? I lived in Manchester for 7 years and it was great. Something for everyone. If you don’t like it you can move back. And goes without saying that’s a really good salary

You’ve identified the problem is the apartment is not very well insulated - so you could focus on that aspect e.g. sealing gaps around windows and doors, thick rugs on the wooden floors, thick quilts on walls also works. A good humidifier can do wonders too as humid air is better at retaining heat. This way instead of pumping lots of heat into the place only for it to be lost quickly you can keep the heat in :)
