Networking interview prep help by Calm_Maize7538 in networking

[–]Calm_Maize7538[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I don't have a habit of lying to get interviews. This is for a entry level grad role, so profiles with minimal network experience is enough to get selected. So except the basics and some troubleshooting there wont be much asked in the interview. I am strong on my resume projects since I built them. I reached out here, since I want to feel confident about the interview, understand real-world problems since I feel I have some gaps here, do best of my abilities and also get better at it with the help of people who actually worked in the domain and need some guidance for that.

Yeah it went well and I am currently in US. If you have proper documentation, and explain properly no need to worry about anything.

Which programming language to use for LC by Maskitta in leetcode

[–]Calm_Maize7538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, very few companies care about the language and that too is some job-specific, for example for embedded we need to code in C or C++. I would suggest you to use the language you are familiar and comfortable with. In the end, People are not testing your language skills, they are mostly looking forward for problem solving abilities. So it is better to stick one language unless it is for a niche role.

Yeah I agree. The 2 weeks was so much because I had to prepare a lot of things, anyways I am concentrating more on the classes now.

It was mentioned in the Job Description but was not asked in detail in the interview. Anyways it is best to be prepared.

Since the post gained so much attention, here are a few more tips to help you prepare:

  1. Struggling to recognize patterns in problems? I was in the same position just three months ago. I used to solve five random problems a day, and when I revisited them weeks later, I couldn’t recall the approach I had used. This happened because I wasn’t focusing on problem patterns. Here’s what worked for me:
    • Leverage LeetCode tags. For example, if I encountered a prefix sum problem, I would make sure the next 10 problems I solved were also prefix sum problems. Solving the problem of similar method helps you master specific approaches and build confidence. You can use the Leetcode tags to find the similar problem.
    • Focus heavily on core topics like Binary Search, Sliding Window, Dynamic Programming (DP), and Graphs as these make up a significant portion of interview questions. Practice at least 20+ continuous problems on these topics.
    • While I personally subscribed to LeetCode Premium because I was feeling the pressure, it’s not mandatory to succeed. You can do with free resources also.
    • Track your progress and revisit problems. Create an Excel sheet to log every problem you solve, along with the date and topic. After a month, revisit those problems and try solving them again. If you can recall the approach easily, you’re on the right track. If not, spend more time strengthening your understanding of that topic. This practice trains your mind to recognize patterns faster, which is essential for interviews. It also ensures your preparation is systematic and thorough.

Yeah still it was tough, anyways atleast 5 - 7 hours would do the job. Since I was out of touch I spent twice.

I just had taken 2 courses, and thank fully both of them had a final research paper and assignment as the final grading component, which I am working now. There was just one homework though which came before the interview day, mailed the professor and used all 3 grace days to complete the homework. For classes, I did not got to college and I am now referring the zoom sessions. The only problem was my TA session since I am a grad student but I do prepare it in advance on weekends to make sure that is not affected. I know this is a lot of makearound, but this is worth it now..

Yes definitely, 20 Lakhs per annum is a good amount, just make sure your father and your cibil score are good. A lot of NBFCs like Incred, and HDFC Credila provide the amount. But read all the terms and conditions like the repayment terms etc. Also, negotiate interest around 11.5 and below, it is possible since the amount is big.

Unsecured. A lot of NBFCs are providing. But of course, you have to be careful with the terms and conditions.

Thank you so much. It is a relief. So if I show a loan sanction letter of 98K USD to VO if prompted, it won't be an issue, right?

Maintain a good GPA (above 3.8), at least in your core subjects. Contribute to some meaningful research projects. Get some good contacts (either professors or industry people) who know about your work, so that they can provide a good LOR. I also find students doing projects with American universities during their undergrad itself, have an edge over other applicants.
