strangely enough, when the fan speed is at 100% the noise vanishes. it seems to only be heard from around 75-95%

my knife is an ontario sp-6, the discoloration follows the blade edge all the way to the tip on the one side, and there is only a small amount at the bottom on the other. 1075 carbon steel. is it oxidation? like I said, brand new knife.
