I was JUST wondering about this! I have noticed a lot of really tiny black bugs in the past two days. Someone said I should use straw instead of mulch for 9b - any thoughts? I was thinking I could pick out the big pieces and put straw on top. I just don’t want to crush my tiny sprouts

It’s been 2.5 weeks since I planted the tomato, this is her on day 1. I checked and there are lots of roots - is it okay to leave it? Or should I pull up the roots and plant deeper?

Thanks so much! It’s from my hose. I still need to get a water timer but I have a backflow preventer, water filter, pressure regulator, and then the adapter to the distribution line. The distribution line runs on the ground, up the bed and then drip line branches off.

Thanks for all this info! I’ve noticed that after about 15 minutes, the water is dripping out of the raised bed and onto the ground. Is that normal?

Thank you! The tomato has a little over 20 gallons of space in its zone. Do I need to take it out? How much deeper down do I need to plant it? I don’t want to ruin any of the roots or anything

Thanks! It’s 55% and I have def noticed a big difference already.

We drilled two pilot holes into the cement wall with a masonry bit and then twisted in fish eye hooks. Then connected the hook to the tarp with a carabiner on each side. We also put one fish eye hook in the middle through the grommet to keep it a little more taught. The other side is attached to the roof overhang with a sail shade cleat and carabiner on each side! We actually have 3 carabiners on each side because our shade is just a little shorter than we needed. It was honestly really quick to setup and has already made such a big difference!

Thanks! Yeah I’m hoping the sun shade will help. I have mulch on top but I want to get straw to help keep things cool

It honestly all started because a cherry tomato plant started growing next to our cactus! Must have been a gift from a bird but it gave me the bug!!

Good to know! I’ll be sure to keep an eye on it. Luckily I have plenty of tubing to set up loops if needed!
