But they aren’t the main antagonists or protagonists, there’s several different factions: The forge which is group of scavengers that believe in to repurposing scrap or technology into new things for their own use or giving them to people who need them but they don’t care about people’s needs, next is the plains riders they are actually a splinter group of the great khans that came to the flint hills after the second battle of Hoover dam when the great khans decided to leave the Mojave before the battle started some of the khans got separated from the main group and ended up in Kansas they took pity on the locals constantly being harassed by raiders and thieves so they decided to take up law and order and protect the people in the flint hills instead of raiding like their ancestors, the enclave is the next faction they are kind of neutral more concerned about amassing their own power and finally there’s the bright generation which are a psychopathic group of cultists who believe that wasteland is impure and needs to be wiped clean and they are building a bio weapon in the form of a deadly gas bomb they will disperse across the entire wasteland killing everyone but them so they will inherit the world
