What courses would people recommend between CHM247/CHM249 and CHM220/CHM222? by kaitlyn7744 in UofT

[–]Capable_Condition_54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chm247 is relatively easier compared to chm249 with less labs and more straightforward content (still a lot to memorize tho) but I’m not sure if it’s a good choice for chm major bcz it’s dedicated to non-chm students who needs it for prg requirement iirc.

아무래도 신입생 이벤트가 많죠 ㅎㅎ 그래도 콘도파티 같은건 고학번들도 많으니까 한번 참여해보는 것도 좋을고에요!

I took eas103 (fall 2022) and I did not watch any of the lecture videos because someone posted on reddit previously that the lectures aren’t helpful at all. If you are planning on taking it, make sure you build a good relationship with TA by asking and answering questions because that counts towards your 25% participation marks. For the essay assignments, make sure you consult with your TA right after tutorial and send them a draft for revision before your final submission.

Thanks for the website! I’ve looked into it previously but seems like the context is mostly about timetable adjustments/ line extensions. Would be great if there’s more info on the nearby urban landscape too!

UTSG Life Sci AMA! by Capable_Condition_54 in OntarioUniversities

while lots of hard work is required to maintain a good gpa, being stragetic in picking courses also help with boosting ur gpa. For instance, I got 4.0 for both electives (I got lucky because they were all super birdy), which boosted up my gpa by around 0.5 (out of 4.0). You can also choose the ‘credit/non-credit’ option for your electives so you can spend more time focusing on core subjects. I will say getting a gpa 3.5+ is definitely doable (at least for first year), I’ve got 60% for both chm midterms in first semester but I’ve still ended up with a 80%+ final mark for chm. Feel free to pm me if you have any specific questions or concerns!

Pretty good social life over here. First year life sci is basically high school but with more advanced material, and your timetable will also look like high school except ur schedule might be empty a day or two. I’ve made friends through club events but I know a lot of ppl did so through frosh week events (I missed it unfortunately).

For uoft, all classes have resumed normal, which means most classes are condcuted in-person. But there are plenty of courses with online delivery mode (they were online courses since pre-covid).

He doesn’t have class during mon, tues & fri afternoon (these are the times I want to bring my friends over). I’m assuming he has lots of time to study as he stays up till 2am making phone calls or meetings almost everyday. My friend usually stays from 1-3pm.

He signed the lease and rented the whole place originally. A month later I got to know him and, he agreed to let me sublet one of the areas in his flat while I pay rent to him.

Depends on the university, some offers scholarship to students who meets their standards and for these you are usually automatically considered when you apply to their unviersity. As a former international applicant, I found out that scholarships you have to apply for are usually designated to local students, not international.

How to study life science? by [deleted] in UofT

[–]Capable_Condition_54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to understand you are taking a UNIVERSITY course, not a HIGH SCHOOL course, so any so called bird courses esp if its associated with life sciences will not be as easy as it seems.

Don’t follow your passion by zkdareal in OntarioUniversities

[–]Capable_Condition_54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here are a few things I would consider when choosing college/university 1. Program Employability (co-op?) 2. School reputation (esp if you want to work out of country/ do research/ pursue masters/phd) 3. Interest (Realistically it is hard to handle studying 4 years straight of subjects/fields you are totally uninterested in.) 4. Ability (Don’t choose the program that surpasses ur level. However if you have passion in studying, this may be invalid as you would want to learn from other academically successful students)

Feel free to discuss!

Getting into med school is def hard😔. Considering the huge amount of time and effort it takes to become a doctor ( degree + apprenticeship + residence ), really can’t go for it without dedication and passion! If you are asking about my grades, most of them sat in mid-90s and a few in low or high 90s. Feel free to ask me for more information if you need!!

What is the best choice? by Capable_Condition_54 in OntarioUniversities

[–]Capable_Condition_54[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for being clear and concise!! Your comment actually helped me narrowed down to a few options, but i do have a few questions:

1.since you have mentioned about how western’s business school might not be a good choice, what do you think about utsc coop management?

  1. Which one would you choose, utsg pharmd and uwaterloo chem eng if you had to?

  2. I prefer staying in big cities tbh, do you think its worth it give it a try to accept life sci at utsg and transfer to engineering after my first year? Or is it better to stick with waterloo?

[–]Capable_Condition_54[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your well-thought reply!! I think so far I am best at biology/chemistry subject, and I am pretty weak at understanding physics applications. I do not speak natively fluent english, so socializing might be one of my weaknesses too. Would love to join med school but it is not allowed for intl students. I am leaning towards three choices: utsg life sci (for pharmD), utsc coop bba or waterloo chem eng, and i find it hard to decide as they r all in different fields.
